A 72-year-old man who shot dead a burglar he caught breaking into his caravan in the middle of the night was today jailed for illegally owning the shotgun without a licence.

][Sentencing judge] Dugdale said: 'I have given this case a great deal of thought over the last two weeks after I sentenced Mr Hearn and it is a difficult matter.

'The whole case is a very sad one as I know you acknowledge. I have to sentence you for the crime you have committed which is possessing that shotgun without a licence.'

He added: 'I have to consider what your intention was for having that firearm in your possession and the fact was it was not held in your possession for what would be regarded as normal use of a shotgun, such as for clay pigeon shooting or some other form of game shooting.

'It was owned by you for what you said was for your protection.'

'It was kept by you for self-defence which will never be a reason for owning a shotgun in this country.'

Andrew Schmidt, 268 Rogues Hill Road and currently out on bail for his hit-and-run killing of a pedestrian, has been arrested again, this time for felonious property damage.

Robert Woodbury, 44 Conyers Farm Drive, was arrested for brawling at the "Old Greenwich Social Club" (former Tracks).

(Update: the brawl involved Mr. Woodbury feloniously busting a beer bottle across the head of a fellow drinker).

586 Round Hill Road, on the market since 2014 ($17.950), is now asking $12.250 million. It's attractive and exceptionally well made, but so are a lot of the white elephants on the market.

7 Riki Beth Lane, Old Greenwich, reports a pending sale. Last listing price was $2.195 million, from an original asking price of $2.850. The owners paid $2.475 for it back in 2012 which, at the time, I thought was the bottom of our market, but at least for this house, I was wrong.

I really like this home — a former carriage house — but it's quirky, and that always reduces the buyer pool. The owners did a fantastic job of renovating a property where, according to the original listing, Lillian Hellman wrote, and Leonard Bernstein performed. From what I remember being told by the 2012 agent, it was a real party house, attracting the glitterati of New York and host to some great parties. May that tradition continue.

Closer to town, prices are stronger than up north

25 Midwood Road, in Deer park, has sold for $7.350 million. Dated, but gracious, and as noted, just a hop and a skip from downtown Greenwich.

When it came on a year ago at $8.850 I guessed that it might sell, high, in the low $8s, and, low, the mid-$6s. Mid-range of that estimate seems appropriate, especially since I admitted at the time that it was hard to gauge the demand for a house of this era in this neighborhood.

It just takes some patience, and a willingness to trim that price a bit. 88 Conyers Farm is reported as sold for $7.4 million. It was on the market since 2006, mind you, when it started at $19 million, but is 11 years and $11.6 million in price cuts too much to bear if you're finally rid of a property you left long, long ago?

Apparently not.

You may scratch your head at this one, but much like racism and misogynoir, being pro-sex worker is a necessary pillar of dismantling the patriarchy. I don’t mean pro-sex worker in the sense where non-sex workers write op-eds and think pieces about how sex work is amazing and feminist.

Your date thinks Native Americans are tropes or relics of the past? NO THANKS.  A key part of intersectionality is having a complete understanding of how historical and current policies endangered the lives of millions of people, simply because of white supremacy and the colonialist entitlement to finite resources and land.

7. Do you think capitalism is exploitative?

Anti-capitalism, especially in the U.S., is imperative if you have an understanding of systemic racism, the prison industrial complex, the 13th Amendment, and exploitation. Capitalism, for one, teaches us that we are only valuable if we produce capital. That means that if you aren’t contributing to the system with your labor, your life means almost nothing.

8. Can any human be illegal?

White Americans stole this land, colonized this land, created so many borders, pushed out, killed and enslaved people of color and somehow they have the audacity to claim that this land is theirs and that black and brown immigrants are stealing their jobs, land, and homes? Miss me with that bullshit.

9. Do you support Muslim Americans and non-Muslim people from Islamic countries?

Don’t waste your time and energy on dating someone who thinks that Islam is inherently violent [Muslim mob firebombs Gothenburg synagogue] or misogynistic. Instead, read some Huda Sha’arawi or Mona Eltahawy to educate yourself further on Muslim feminism.
