Off to Colorado for the week

This was supposed to have been posted last Monday, but got waylaid, and it turned out that our airbnb's internet modem was out of service until today. Better late than never, I suppose.

Wilson Peak: Coor's logo, but also the last mountain John and I saw when we were together in Telluride: a fond memory.

Pal Nancy and I will join our girls in Colorado for Thanksgiving, so blogging will probably be light  (as will the real estate business, so you won't be missing anything). The cabin we've rented claims to have internet service — if so, I'll continue posting annoying political commentary, occasionally.

If not, see you all November 29th, and have a blessed Thanksgiving: best holiday of the year.

It's come to this (and worse is yet to come)

Tranny Protection Force at work

Tranny Protection Force at work

College calls campus police to shut down radio hosts who used the word "tranny".

“Deplorable Radio” is a weekly show on KUMM hosted by students Brandon Albrecht and Tayler Lehmann. Albrecht told The College Fix in an email that the programming is “a mix of politics, music, and some random musings about current events locally and around the world.”
The duo was notified of the cancellation two weeks ago after Albrecht used a controversial word on-air to refer to transgender individuals.
During a discussion about the university’s lack of “Antifa” violence, Albrecht said the campus was too small for a potential violent activist to hide his identity.
“You know, you can definitely, you see one tranny that’s trying to punch someone,” Albrecht told The Fix he said on-air. “You know it’s automatically that one guy that you know I’m talking about. I bet you know. I’m not going to dox anybody and name them on air. But you two know if I say the tranny who looks like he’s going to punch someone. Yep.”
“About fifteen minutes later,” Albrecht told The Fix, “the student station manager came into the studio with a UMMPD officer and told us to leave. She said we had violated FCC law by saying a word that was never allowed on air, ‘tranny.’ So we packed up and left the studio.”

Roy Moore's lawyer is as awful as his client

"Let those who can resist a hot 14-year-old in a school skirt cast the first stone". Okay.

"Let those who can resist a hot 14-year-old in a school skirt cast the first stone".

Okay.

Without taking anything away from the awfulness of Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Al Franken, and our former president Bill Clinton, senatorial candidate Roy Moore should be disqualified just for hiring such an inept mouthpiece (as well as his horrible behavior, of course).

Speaking to Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle on Wednesday, lawyer Trenton Garmon claimed multiple women alleging Moore attempted to groom them as children ― including one who says Moore sexually assaulted her ― were instead “false witnesses.”
“Based on what I’ve seen, facts out there now, there’s questions” about the validity of the witnesses’ statements, Garmon said. “There’s issues about mental health we’ve not yet had the opportunity to get into.”
In a clip played by MSNBC, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity asked Moore if he would remember dating girls as young as 17. Moore responded no, but that he would not dispute the claims.
“If Roy Moore doesn’t remember, why would he say it’s false?” Ruhle asked the lawyer. “And why would he need permission from these girls’ mothers if they’re not underage?”
Garman fumbled for an answer.
“Culturally speaking, obviously there’s differences,” Garmon started. “I looked up Ali’s background there, wow, that’s awesome that you have got such a diverse background ― it’s really cool to read.”
Velshi and Ruhle both appeared perplexed.
“What does Ali’s background have to do with dating a 14-year-old?” Ruhle responded. “Please answer: What does Ali Velshi’s background have do with dating 14-year-old girls?”
“In other countries, there’s arrangements through parents for what we would refer to as consensual marriage,” Garmon said.
“Ali is from Canada,” Ruhle said.
“I don’t know where you’re going with this, Trenton,” Velshi said.
Garmon continued to fumble his responses, leading Ruhle to another line of questioning.
“You have young daughters,” she told Garmon. “If your daughter was 14, would you think it’s appropriate that she date a man in his 30s? Would you think it was normal that a random man sign her yearbook?”
“I would say no,” Garmon said. “If someone came to me like what was postulated there and said, ‘May I date your daughter ― don’t know her age’ ― I would say no.”

It would be a shame to lose a single Republican senator from the present 52-48 majority, but that's a reasonable price to pay to avoid seeing a child molester seated, even if the Democrats keep Franken and Menendez in place.

Standards.

Navy rejects the new biology

Hello, sailor!

Hello, sailor!

Establishes different physical standards for male and female recruits. Woman will only have to complete a 1.5 mile course at a brisk walk, men must run it.

In the civilian world, men and women are now considered biological equals, and are held to the same standards. Our military is denying consensus science.

[As] Stonington junior Kate Hall, who had won the Class M 100 last year, brushed back tears after she had finished second behind transgender female Andraya Yearwood of Cromwell in the 100, this much was clear:
The question that could not be ignored has no easy, painless answer.
"It's frustrating," said Hall, who finished third in the 200. "But that's just the way it is now."

I blame Trump.

Side-by-sides on Mooreland Road, $11 million + apiece

37 Mooreland Rd

37 Mooreland Rd

37 Mooreland Road has hit the market today at $11.950, joining its sibling at 35 Mooreland, which has sat unsold at $11.250 million since last spring. The two lots were carved from the same 8-acre lot back in 2015, which sold for $5.675. At under $3 for each, that leaves plenty of room to adjust these prices over the coming years: that margin will almost certainly come in handy.

A fool and his money? Let's wait until the closing price is reported

9 Sabine Farm Road, asking $31.5 million, is under contract. Purchased for $23 million in 2004, this 20-acre property has been sub-divided into 3 lots, with its obsolete, 12,000 sq.ft. mansion on one of them, and found a buyer.

I know what I'd have advised a client interested in this place, but who knows what the agreed upon price was? Two lots at, say, $3.5 per, and a house on its own lot at maybe $7.5, being generous, and you might have a bargain, however unsellable, but $31.5? Crazy.

Admittedly, purchasers at this level don't actually cook for themselves, but ... really?
