From the Perfesser:

OUT: THESE STATUES OF CONFEDERATES MUST GO BECAUSE THEY’RE HISTORY’S GREATEST MONSTERS.

Remember how in 2017 people mocked Trump for predicting this?

Build in haste, repent at leisure

meadow.jpg

19 Meadow Drive in Rock Ridge has sold for $7.650 million. Its builder paid $3.9 for the land in 2016 and initially listed this, in February 2017 at $13.995. It had dropped to $9.495 million by May, and when I reported that it had a contract then, I naively suggested that at that price, the builder would surely make some profit, even if not the one he’d expected when he was asking $14. A reader who knows construction costs wrote to say no, $9.495 would yield a loss. If so, $7.650 must really suck.

Finally, a way to drive down prices to an affordable level

Minneapolis celebrates diversity

Minneapolis celebrates diversity

Minneapolis city council votes 12-0 to abolish the police department.

As noted yesterday, progressive whites in the city have already abandoned what was once considered a prime instinct, self-preservation, and agreed not to call the police for anything, so the cops’ disappearance shouldn’t affect them, but the attraction of a burned-out, looted home will be minimal for anyone not properly awakened. The city will soon be able to move the disadvantaged out of the parks and into what were once fine homes, at very little cost.

Another year, another price cut

6 lauder.jpg

6 Lauder Way, which started at $16.9 million in 2008 is now, twelve years later, asking just $10.9. It’s a very nice house, custom-built for the owners by Matt Matthews, on 3.5 acres close to town. In fact, there’s nothing not to like about this house, for those who have a taste for this style, except the price. $16.9 wasn’t the right number in 2008 and the other prices tried since then were no more successful. The owner decamped to Palm Beach a long time ago, so let’s hope this latest cut will do the trick.

“I hear there’s a new house going up on Lauder Way; let’s give it a few years for the price to soften and then let’s go looking, Kid.”

Ladies who brunch, with a twist

I know, kids, let’s put on a show!

Another day, another demonstration by Greenwich whites that they feel their maids’ pain

Justice for Brunch sets up weekend march through central Greenwich

Justice for Brunch, a local group led by six young professionals, aims to disrupt the privilege that exists in Fairfield County while uplifting the Black community and demanding justice for the many Black lives lost in America, said Nicole Rincon, public relations coordinator for the group.

As Glenn Reynolds observed after a Pew analysis showed that only 1 in 6 BLM protesters are black, “It may not save any black lives, but it’s giving new meaning to lots of white lives that are short of significance”.

UPDATE: Reader jimmy Stewart, posing as “zuzupetals”, points out that one of the ladies can’t spell “privilege”. I dunno, maybe she does know better and is just self-identifying with the inner-city illiterates we’re spitting out of our high schools. If so, then perhaps the energy she’s expending to “uplift the black community” would be better devoted to something other than virtue-signaling parades down Greenwich Avenue,

Notes from prison: from GT’s coverage of last week’s march of the privileged, “Burst their Bubble”, comes this remarkable quote from one of town’s own, ex-con and felon, Chip Skowron:

Chip Skowron, a white resident of Greenwich, said, “I have been part of the problem, because I was ignorant and uninvolved. I want to encourage people like me to wake up.”

I don’t remember how many years Chip spent in prison for insider trading, but surely he must have been in long enough to have met a few people there who weren’t his skin color, and who might have experienced problems with getting on in life because of, at least partially, their choice of race. Yet it takes a parade of awakened white ladies to educate him on the issue? Talk about a slow learner.

Cities protecting statues by disguising them as Karl Marx

City councils all over are ordering Karl Marx wigs and putting them on Teddy Roosevelt, George Washington, Christopher Columbus, and other statues. The move has proven extremely effective at deterring Antifa and other extremist groups, who are only looking for statues of old hateful white guys to destroy and not statues of communists.

"As soon as enraged rioters see the statue isn't of a dangerous, murderous madman whose ideas killed hundreds of millions but is just of Karl Marx, they move on," said one city council member in Illinois as he put a Karl Marx wig and beard on a statue of Abraham Lincoln. "Well, first, they bow respectfully to their hero and then move on."

Of course, most cities don’t want to preserve these reminders of past wrongs, but otherwise … ingenious.
