It's been said it's better to be the second wife, and the third agent

But being the 6th listing agent can be even better. Case in point, the current listing at 41 Alpine Road, under new brokership for just 38 days at $8.995 million, is now pending.

it’s been a long road for this place: it started 16 years ago in 2005 at $21 million, went through five previous brokers and eleven price changes (including the failed strategy of raising the price in 2011 from $18.5 to $21 million) before landing at this price and this agent.

Congratulations, Ms. Agent: this just might have been the top runner in the oldest inventory in town category.

My personal favorite is this one, showing Brave Sir Andrew, brushing aside hazmat-suited cowards to personally disinfect an entire train while protected by only a (single) face mask.

Mind you, there’s a slight problem with the above:

Japanese supercomputer shows double masking does little to slow spread of virus

Japanese supercomputer simulations showed that wearing two masks gave limited benefit in blocking viral spread compared with one properly fitted mask.

Researchers used the Fugaku supercomputer to model the flow of virus particles from people wearing different types and combinations of masks, according to a study released on Thursday by research giant Riken and Kobe University.

Using a single surgical-type mask, made of non-woven material, had 85% effectiveness in blocking particles when worn tightly around the nose and face. Adding a polyurethane mask on top boosted the effectiveness to just 89%.

Wearing two non-woven masks isn't useful because air resistance builds up and causes leakage around the edges.

"The performance of double masking simply does not add up," wrote the researchers, led by Makoto Tsubokura.

And the hits just keep coming

eBay pulls copies of Mein Kampf after discovering that Hitler doodled a Chinese man eating with chopsticks in the margin

U.S.—eBay today released a statement that they will be pulling Mein Kampf from their site after the shocking discovery that Hitler drew a Chinese character in the margin who was eating with chopsticks.

“We are horrified and saddened to discover that Adolph Hitler engaged in racist caricatures like this,” said a spokesman for eBay. “All of us deeply regret that customers enjoying a nice socialist manifesto were unwillingly exposed to such harmful bigotry. We express our deepest apologies and hope our oversight about Hitler has not contributed to racial violence against the Chinese.”

I blame Eddy Murphy

I don’t get it

I don’t get it

Television personality Joy Reid and friend think that when whites speak of self-censorship what they really mean is that they want to be free to “say the N-word amongst themselves.

“To them, not being able to be openly racist and discriminatory without consequence is oppression,” Reid wrote. “Trump is the avatar for this ‘freedom.'”

Both Reid and Johnson were addressing a Deseret News article by journalist Bari Weiss, who claims “self-censorship is threatening democracy.”

In the article, Weiss noted how people on the left and right feel pressure to “self-censor” when talking about certain political topics. She mentioned a study from the Cato Institute that found 62% of Americans self-censor, and another 32% worry their political views could harm their employment prospects.

This is the same woman, by the way, who didn’t censor herself when running a blog a decade ago. “Uncle Clarence” referring to the sole black Supreme Court Justice, was just one of her targets: she abhorred gays, “I couldn’t see Brokeback Mountain because it’s just too creepy”, opposed gay marriage, accused many Republicans of being closeted gays — in fact, her most common theme in attacking them was to accuse them of giving each other blow jobs,.etc. Exposed, she gave the usual excuse: someone had hacked her blog — “we’ve turned the matter over to the FBI”, her agent claimed. Four years on, the FBI still hasn’t reported back.

Sad.

Eddie Murphy spoofed this belief in a secret white cabal way back in 1984 — I guess these two buffoons missed the joke.

The Chicoms are now reading people’s feelings to determine if they’re about to commit a crime or are harboring anti-state hostility. From Not the Bee, alas;

“Chinese police are reportedly using new surveillance software that lets them scan a person's emotional state to infer criminal guilt and provide justification for search and seizure.

China isn't just using this technology, their state-controlled news is boasting about it.

Breitbart reports that the communist-run Global Times had this to say about A.I. software being used to predict prisoner's emotional states and potential future actions:

"The technology helps prison officers to evaluate whether a prisoner presents potential risks, including possible mental problems and violent or suicidal tendencies, and estimate whether he or she is likely to repeat an offense after release."

Here's how the tech works according to China's propaganda outlet:

"After a prisoner looks at the camera for three to four seconds, this recognition system can know his or her seven main physiological indexes including body temperature, eye movement, and heart rate, and convert them into psychological signs showing whether the prisoner is calm, depressed, angry or whatever else at that time."

The tech can also be used on the road, where cameras look at the face of every driver for "abnormal" emotional states. Police can then respond to people they deem suspicious. If the system determines someone is acting more nervous or stressed than usual, the police can use the tech to authorize a search of their vehicle or property.

Oh, and it works through personal health devices that can monitor your heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature.

How many of you are wearing a smartwatch right now, eh?

“In addition, the Chinese paper said that the technology would be used by employers during interviews and by gaming companies to assess people's faces while in VR – most likely the first step in assuring we all feel comfortable in the Matrix when it goes online!”

Non MLS sale on Meadowcroft

Screen Shot 2021-03-05 at 2.55.00 PM.png

1 Meadowcroft Lane, $13.3 million. The sale stayed in house, and there’s nothing necessarily wrong with that: one agent knows of a house for sale, the other has a buyer looking for a house, and they talk. And if the sellers can get the price they’re looking for without having to undergo the unpleasantness of opening their home to strangers and suffering the disruption of showings, it can make a lot of sense.

This is a Mark Mariani construction which, depending on your view of his work, could be good, or bad.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan (D) rejects shipment of J&J vaccine “because it isn’t the best there is”. Look for Biden and CNN to denounce his Neanderthal thinking this evening for refusing to follow the CDC’s advice. Not.

“So, Johnson & Johnson is a very good vaccine. Moderna and Pfizer are the best.” And if his subjects can’t get the best, they’ll get nothing at all. Because he cares.
