Wait, aren't these the same people who are cheering on government grocery stores?

You’ll get yours

Well yes, yes they are, but those will be for the Little People to shop in; the elite have to eat, and they don’t eat government cheese. Yet.

‘Chaos’ in sleepy Hamptons hamlet as trendy grocery store mobbed by One Percenters

The Sagaponack General Store, located in the second-wealthiest ZIP code in the country, was founded in 1878 but shut down during COVID. New owners snapped it up, gave it a multi-million dollar makeover and have been doing a roaring trade selling pastries, fresh-cut flowers, local produce whimsically displayed in a rusic barrow, $15 breakfast burritos, “penny candy” for $20-a-pound, and the like.

But the more popular it gets, we hear, the less popular it gets, as insiders snipe that customers and their cars are jamming up the residential street on which it sits all weekend long.

“They’re making so many enemies,” said a retail tattletale, “The police have sent a crossing guard! People are parking all over people’s lawns. It’s a nightmare.”

Adding to the ire, they say, the store is “a billionaire’s wife’s pet project.”

I wonder how Elon expects his customers to charge their Teslas after he helps the Democrats regain control of Congress?

Trump's Energy Department warns Americans could face 800 hours of blackouts by 2030

Trump energy secretary calls current path 'unstable and dangerous' as AI data centers increase electricity demand

DOE's report found that with about 104 gigawatts of energy-generating capacity scheduled to be retired by 2030, power outages could see a significant rise if that capacity isn't replaced in a timely manner. It is estimated that annual outage hours could rise from single digits today to over 800 hours per year.

That’s 800 hours for individual homes and businesses, and here’ the kicker: all the planned propeller beanies and solar farms won’t add to the country’s baseload generating capacity.

The agency noted that while 104 GW of power generation is scheduled to be retired, it is scheduled to be replaced by 209 GW of new capacity by 2030 — though only 22 GW of that comes from firm baseload generation sources. It added that even with the assumption of no retirements, the risk of outages in some areas rises more than 3-fold.

What’s baseload, you ask?

Search Labs | AI Overview

Baseload power generation refers to the continuous, reliable supply of electricity needed to meet the minimum power demand of an electrical grid, typically operating 24/7. It's the foundation upon which the rest of the grid's power needs are built.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

What is Baseload Power?

  • Constant Demand:

Baseload power represents the minimum amount of electricity required to keep the lights on and essential services running, even during off-peak hours.

  • 24/7 Operation:

Baseload power plants are designed to operate continuously, providing a steady and reliable supply of electricity.

  • Minimum Load:

Baseload is the lowest level of electricity demand on a grid over a given period (e.g., a week).

Examples of Baseload Power Plants:

  • Nuclear Power Plants:

    .

These plants are well-suited for baseload generation due to their ability to produce large amounts of electricity at a consistent rate.

  • Coal-fired Power Plants:

    .

Historically, coal plants have been a major source of baseload power, though their role is evolving due to environmental concerns.

  • Geothermal Power Plants:

    .

These plants harness the Earth's internal heat to generate electricity and can operate continuously.

  • Hydropower Plants:

    .

Dams that generate electricity can also provide baseload power, especially those with large reservoirs.

  • Efficient Natural Gas Plants:

    .

Some natural gas plants are designed for baseload operation, particularly those with combined cycle technology.

Why is Baseload Important?

  • Reliability:

Baseload power ensures that the lights stay on and essential services are maintained, even when other power sources fluctuate.

  • Cost Efficiency:

Baseload plants, especially those using fossil fuels or nuclear energy, often offer lower per-kilowatt-hour costs due to their ability to run at high capacity.

  • Grid Stability:

Baseload power plants contribute to the overall stability of the electrical grid by providing a predictable and consistent power supply.

Baseload vs. Other Power Sources:

  • Intermediate and Peaking Power Plants:

    .

These plants are used to meet fluctuating electricity demands above the baseload level.

  • Renewable Energy Sources:

    .

While renewable sources like solar and wind are becoming increasingly important, they are often intermittent and not suitable for baseload generation due to their reliance on weather conditions.

  • Future of Baseload:

    .

The future of baseload power is evolving, with a growing focus on integrating more renewable energy sources and exploring technologies like energy storage to manage fluctuations in supply and demand.

So, okay, 800 hours — that’s less than 5-weeks a year, and surely those outages will be spread throughout the year, and besides, everyone can just buy generators, so factories can continue operating, and people even in glass houses can still enjoy heat and air conditioning, right? Not in California, buddy, and if the Greens have their way, in no other state either.

California has already severely limited the sale of new generators and will ban them entoirely in 2028 (as wellas small gasoline engines powering anything else are next: no boats, lawnmowers, no leaf-blowers — of, we’re already there in Greenwich on this one — no snowblowers in the mountains, etc.)

California is phasing out the sale of new gasoline-powered portable generators, with a complete ban on sales of newly manufactured ones starting in 2028. This is part of a broader effort to reduce emissions from small off-road engines, including those used in lawn equipment. While the sale of new gas generators will be prohibited, the use of existing gas generators will not be banned.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • 2028 Ban:

Starting in 2028, all newly manufactured portable generators sold in California must meet zero-emission standards. This means no more gas-powered generators will be sold new in the state.

  • CARB Regulations:

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is leading the initiative, with regulations targeting emissions from Small Off-Road Engines (SOREs)

  • Focus on Sales, Not Use:

The ban primarily focuses on the sale of new gas generators. It doesn't prohibit the use of existing gas generators.

  • Phased Implementation:

The regulations are being rolled out in phases, with stricter emissions standards for newly manufactured SOREs starting in 2024, aiming for a 40-90% reduction in emissions.

  • Impact on RVs:

The regulations also affect RVs, requiring a phase-out of RV models sold in California with built-in gas generators by 2028.

  • Alternative Power Sources:

Californians will need to rely on electric generators, battery systems, or other alternative power sources for backup power and other applications.

So not much different from the United States then

Mark Steyn

On last week's Clubland Q&A, I recalled the summer of 2016, which I spent touring the Continent from the Côte d'Azur to southern Lapland interviewing female victims of sexual assault by migrants. … I spoke to dozens of women who no longer went themselves, and no longer permitted their children to go, to municipal swimming baths. I am not sure North Americans quite appreciate the centrality of public bathing in northern Europe. In my corner of New Hampshire, almost every rusting double-wide has its own above-the-ground swimming pool: Bathe Free or Die! In Germany and Scandinavia, where far more people - even in small rural towns - live in apartments, the local municipal pool is an important feature of the summer season.

Or used to be. A fairly typical vignette from that summer:

In Östersund I talked to a young lady whose daughter and her friends had been sexually assaulted in the municipal swimming baths by 'migrants'. The staff who witnessed it sized up the cocksure young lads, swimming in the pool (in defiance of regulations) in their urine-stained and malodorous underwear, and declined to attempt their removal.

'There must have been other men there,' I said. 'Didn't they do anything?'

My friend laughed. 'Swedish men are manginas,' she said - a portmanteau of 'man' and 'vagina' with which I was not hitherto familiar.

I visited the pool myself to see the Muslim men swimming in their grimy underpants and to ask the "guards" why the rules were not enforced. They answered that they had been instructed "not to make a fuss" - and eventually said I'd have to leave if I didn't drop the subject. If the occasional nine-year-old has to have her vagina digitally penetrated in the cause of vibrant diversity, so be it.

I have said before that we live in "a blizzard of lies", but the gap between the Diversity Myth and reality widens daily, and the lies are becoming more brazen. In Germany the government has now launched a new campaign to warn patrons of its public baths that groping is verboten:

As you can see, in one poster, a white man is invading the privacy of a brown woman; in the second, a white man is grabbing the bottom of a brown woman; in the third, two white men are assaulting a brown woman; and, in the fourth, a predatory redhead is groping a brown man with a peg leg - presumably a Somali pirate whose storm-tossed galleon was forced to put into port at the Cologne municipal baths.

As Europe's bestselling newspaper was obliged to point out, this advertising campaign is the precise inversion of German reality:

Elf Tage ist es her, dass acht Mädchen in Gelnhausen bei einem Schwimmbad-Ausflug sexuell belästigt wurden. Die mutmaßlichen Täter waren vier junge Männer. Alle vier sollen derselben syrischen Familie angehören.

Which means, more or less:

Eleven days ago, eight girls were sexually assaulted on a trip to the swimming pool trip at Gelnhausen. The alleged offenders are four young men. All four are said to be from the same Syrian family.

There's a surprise - not. I am not saying that the advertising-agency manginas who came up with this campaign and the bureaucrats who signed off on it should be identified, hunted down in the streets and killed. I am not even saying that they should be brutally sodomised like the ten-year-old boy in the Theresienbad pool, whose attacker had his conviction overturned by the Austrian Supreme Court on the grounds that, being from Iraq, Amir could not be expected to know that the cute little moppet was not consenting to his anal rape. But I am saying that every self-respecting bikini-clad flame-tressed thunder-thighed Hausfrau should pursue these manginas down the sidewalk groping their arses every inch of the way until their poor put-upon posteriors have to be replaced by prosthetics from the same company that Somali pirate gets his from.

Apparently, Germany Is Facing a Plague of Teutonic Butt Grabbers

How is this similar to what our media and government does in the US? The refusal to give out the race — black — of the gangbangers who are shooting up their rivals and any innocent bystanders who happen to get in the way. Why? General wokeness, of course, but also because doing so would demolish the gun-ban crowd’s never-ceasing demands for stricter gun control laws; the fine citizens committing these shootings are certain to already have criminal records that would prevent them from buying or possessing guns, so existing laws are useless, and stricter ones simply a means to disarm law0abiding citizens.

Here are just three incidents that occured recently in just two of our best cities:

GREENWICH — A peaceful community vigil was held in Binney Park in Old Greenwich Sunday evening to demonstrate support for the local immigrant community.

The gathering was designed "as a gesture of unity, compassion, and visible support for the immigrant families who are an essential part of our town," according to an organizer, Whitney Keyes.

Hey, whatever; it least they weren’t cheering the death of Trump supporters’ children, and we can certainly use more civility, so good for them. It just seems … frivolous?

Zohran Mamdani’s other baggage — bringing a socialist army to City Hall

Zohran Mamdani may be a lightweight in his own right, but as mayor he’d bring an entire extremist movement along with him to City Hall, with dire consequences for the city.

Mamdani can hedge and haw all he likes, but he’s the face of a truly radical movement, the Democratic Socialists of America — which boasts of being truly anti-capitalist and indeed looking to “seize the means of production,” which is as Marxist as anyone could ask.

Zohran himself just a few years ago lectured about how socialists needed to be honest about these goals; that he’s changed his tune merely means he’s now more interested in winning elections.

After all, this is a guy who’s said that identifying himself as African-American just because he was born in Uganda would be fundamentally “misleading” — but did just that when applying to Columbia.

As mayor, he would at the very least bring a host of fellow DSA believers to the highest reaches of city government.

And the DSA is a lot harder left than the Working Families Party, which has always been mainly a vehicle for unions and other “progressive” special interests to boost their influence.

The DSA’s constitution is frank about the party’s beliefs: “We reject an economic order based on private profit”; it seeks a “social order based on popular control of resources and production” and “economic planning.”

Already, ex-Rep. Jamaal Bowman is rumored as Mamdani’s pick for schools chancellor. As an “educator,” Bowman stood four-square against standards and rigor, and for DEI nonsense.

Imagine cop-hating Queens City Councilwoman Tiffany Cabán — an early Mamdani supporter — replacing Jessica Tisch as police commissioner.

Or other lefty radicals running the Department of Finance and the Economic Development Corp.

The DSA has been leveraging its way to power ever since its first marque triumph: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ouster of Queens boss Joe Crowley, then the No. 4 House Democrat, in the 2019 primary.

Now, exploiting the city’s ridiculous public-campaign-finance system and now the ranked-choice primary-voting rules as well as the establishment’s social-media cluelessness, it’s poised to seize City Hall behind Mamdani’s disarming charm and puppy-dog head tilt.

Beware: Even if the voters fend off this takeover attempt, the DSA will keep on pushing.

Click the links for details, but here’s one small part of Mamdani’s proposed “reforms”

This is who they are, this is what they do: when liberals say they hate you and want you dead, believe them

David Strom, HotAir:

The Party of Empathy...

I have a bookmark folder on X called "Democrat hate."

When I think about it, I toss especially hateful posts into the folder as potential fodder for articles. I rarely dip into them unless some particularly prominent person utters some particularly hateful thing. Still, it is striking how many posts I find of Democrats wishing death or suffering on people for the crime of seeing things differently than they do.

What prompted me to dip into this well was the liberal reaction to the flash flood tragedy in Texas.

Strom starts off with a sampling of the predictable “Blame Trump” pronouncements from Democrat politicians and their media monkeys, but then turns to the churning, personal hate and glee expressed by ordinary run of the million leftists:

Note: “Chris Tina” is no mere pediatric clinician, she’s a full doctor, Christina Probst.

UPDATE: Dr. Probst is no longer employed by Blue Fish. but that’s because her post went viral, I suspect, and the heat down there, already uncomfortable because it’s Texas summer, became unbearable.

David Strom concludes his post with this reminder:

The glee with which a certain kind of liberal responded to the tragedy is not an outlier--during COVID, liberals were quite open about their desire for conservatives to die. Democrats wanted to put vaccine skeptics in camps, take away their children, deny them health care (and in many cases did deny them health care--in many places you still can't get an organ transplant without getting a COVID vaccine). Jimmy Kimmel famously joked that unvaccinated people with heart attacks should be left to die.

And then, of course, there’s just your usual pervasive race hatred directed not just at conservatives but at all whites, even the wokest of the woke; put up by a “Non-resident Princeton Fellow” - not sure what that is, but not surprised that an Ivy has her/it.

Former Houston appointee claims flood-ravaged Camp Mystic is 'Whites-only' in viral video

Sade Perkins, a former member of the Houston Food Insecurity Board, made the claims about Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, in a TikTok video this weekend.

The office of Houston Mayor John Whitmire confirmed to Fox News Digital that Perkins posted the video. She was appointed by former Mayor Sylvester Turner in 2023, and her term expired in January 2025.

In her video, Perkins began by predicting that she was "probably gonna get canceled for this."

"But Camp Mystic is a Whites-only girls Christian camp," Perkins continued. "They don't even have a token Asian, they don't have a Token Black person, it is a all White, White-only conservative Christian camp."

"If you ain't White, you ain't right," she claimed. "You ain't getting in, you ain't going, period."

Perkins added, "It's not to say that we don't want the girls to be found, whatever girls that are missing… but you best believe, especially in today's political climate, if this were a group of Hispanic girls….this would not be getting this type of coverage that they're getting. No one would give a f--k."

The former appointee said that she intended "no shade" for the girls who were missing or killed due to the flood, and said that she "hope[s] they all get found," but suggested that there was too much sympathy for them.

"They want you to have sympathy for these people. They want to get out of your bed and to come out of your home and to go find these people and to donate your money to go to find these people," Perkins said in the video.

"Meanwhile, they are deporting your family members. Meanwhile, they're setting up concentration camps and prisons for your family members. And I need you all to keep that in mind before you all get out there and put on your rain boots and go find these little girls."

Speaking to Fox News, Whitmire's office said that Perkins would not be reappointed to the board, and called her comments "deeply inappropriate."

Maybe so, but I'll believe these "experts" only if and when Putin actually dies and, like the Generalissimo, stays dead (Updated)

These same “experts” have been confidently predicting Putin’s demise and being on death’s door for two decades now, and so far as I hear, he’s still with us, more’s the pity.

Not that it’s a particularly reliable source, but Wikipedia’s summary of those claims jibes with my own personal memory, so I’ll trust them this once; at that, it’s only a partial list: the Daily Mail has been killing off Vladimir on its front page since Stalin was playing with his a pup, Hector.

Claims of Vladimir Putin's incapacity and death

For approximately 20 years, multiple sources have regularly reported that the president of Russia Vladimir Putin is weeks or months away from death or medical incapacity.[1] At various points, it has been rumored that he is suffering from terminal thyroid cancer, blood cancer, abdominal cancer, Parkinson's disease, leprosy, serious surgery complications, the aftereffects of a stroke, or that he is, in fact, already dead.[2][3][1]

Selected reports

2005 report of stroke

In 2005, The Atlantic published an essay, based on observation of film footage, alleging Putin had suffered a stroke and was dying.[1][4]

2014 report of cancer

It was reported according to an unnamed German doctor, that Putin was receiving treatment for an "often terminal form of cancer".[5] Russian government spokesman Dmitri Peskov denied the claim.[5]

2015 report of cosmetic surgery complications

Mainstream media outlets in the United States reported that Vladimir Putin might be seriously ill due to complications from a secret cosmetic surgery procedure it was claimed he'd undergone.[6] The rumors originated after the Russian president postponed a scheduled meeting from 11 to 18 March, as well as analysis of background objects in official photographs by Russia observers.[6]

Vox reported that "the idea that Putin would schedule plastic surgery for a week when he was supposed to have multiple public meetings seems highly implausible" and Russian government spokesman Dmitri Peskov denied Putin was suffering any type of medical issues.[6] Asked to comment on the report Putin was dying of surgery complications, the Brookings Institution's Hannah Thoburn said "for all we know, he probably has the flu, or just wanted to hang out with his daughters or something".[6] Russian television later aired footage of Putin attending a separate meeting on 13 March.[6]

2017 and 2020 reports of leprosy and Parkinson's disease

In 2017, Russian historian and political analyst Valery Solovei asserted Vladimir Putin was about to resign for health-related reasons.[1] Putin did not resign.[1] In 2020, Solovei and others variously claimed that Putin had cancer, Parkinson's disease or leprosy and would imminently resign, a claim which also did not transpire.[1]

2022 reports of multiple illnesses

  • Following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to The New York Times, rumors of Putin being seriously ill became "a subject of lurid speculation, internet video forensics, and potential wartime propaganda, even though U.S. officials say there is no evidence the Russian leader is dying".[7]

  • In May 2022, Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov reported that Vladimir Putin was simultaneously suffering from "several serious illnesses, one of which is cancer".[8] Christopher Steele also alleged Putin was "dying".[1]

  • The New Statesman reported there was "no verifiable evidence that Putin is seriously ill"; Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov denied the allegation; William Burns, the director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency said "as far as we can tell, he's entirely too healthy"; and Richard Moore, the head of MI6 said there "is no evidence that Putin is suffering from serious illness".[2] [8][9][3]

  • On 28 May 2022 the Daily Star even speculated that Putin might have already died of blood cancer.[3] The Sunday Mirror published its own story the next day also reporting that Putin may have been dead.[3]

  • In July 2022, the Toronto Sun and other media outlets reported Putin had lost use of his right arm due to an unexplained medical crisis. The Toronto Sun cited, as evidence of the allegation, that a video showed Putin swatting a mosquito with his left arm instead of his right.[10]

Neurologists have previously noted that several Russian officials such as Anatoly Sidorov and Sergei Ivanov who, like Putin, have specialized training by Soviet-era military and intelligence services and typically make limited use of their right arm, often holding it unnaturally stiff to the side of the torso in what is called gunslinger's gait.[11] A 2015 study by Dutch physicians published in the British Medical Journal which compared video of the various officials against body movement instructions in a KGB training manual, suggested this was a learned behavioral adaptation to allow quick access to a firearm in response to a sudden threat and probably not a signifier of any medical condition in either Putin or other Russian political leaders.[12]

In December 2022, Solovei announced Putin was being treated with cancer drugs for an unspecified, advanced stage cancer and "the end is already in sight".[13] Several years prior, in 2017, Solovei suggested that Putin might resign due to ill health.[1]

January 2023 claim by Zelenskyy

In January 2023, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly "questioned whether Vladimir Putin was still alive" during a virtual address to the World Economic Forum and suggested that Putin might have already been replaced by his body double.[14]

October 2023 claims of death

In October 2023, Russian Telegram channel "General [of] SVR" and Solovei said that Putin had died on 26 October from complications of cancer. According to Solovei, a body double was successfully used to replace the real Putin in many public activities and meetings during the last several months.[15][16] Earlier, the Kremlin denied media reports which claimed Putin was suffering from a serious illness, citing "General SVR".[17][18]
