It's shaping up as a good day for older homes

61 Sawmill Lane

61 Sawmill Lane

61 Sawmill Lane, asking $3.595 million, is pending (it started at $4 back in April). This is such a nice house that I'm surprised (well, a little - this is one slow market for expensive homes) that it stayed around so long. Built in 1942, which always raises my curiosity: who had the money to build these grand houses back then?, updated through the years. The interior has, to my eye, a sort of 70s feel, but that's pretty much irrelevant, because new owners seem to want to redo almost every house that's sold in Greenwich, so what difference does it make whether someone's ripping out a 1970s kitchen or a 2010?

And its on 5 acres in the one-acre zone. I hope this isn't split up, because it makes a very nice, rare enclave as it is.
