I've been a huge fan of Crowell's for 45 years, aging and going through life's experience with him, and he's written some of the most meaningful songs of my life. Here's his latest, "It Ain't Over Yet", sung with his-former wife of many years, Rosanne Cash (yes, Johnny's daughter, and a great singer/songwriter in her own right).
UPDATE: While I'm feeling maudlin, here's one of his earlier songs. "It Ain't Over Yet" was released this year, the same month I learned that I have a fairly serious heart problem — I rediscovered "Things I Wish I'd Said", while John was dying - it provided solace then, and still does.
UPDATE II : JUST TO ANNOY WALT, WHO'S ADVISED ME TO SUCK IT UP, HERE'S A SONG WRITTEN BY STEVE EARLE:
Daughter Kate sang it John's funeral - a beautiful song.
