And who can blame them — politicians have vowed to shut down and bankrupt fossil fuel producers in ten years, so who would put money into the industry? That’d be as foolish as continuing to commit R&D money into the development of petroleum-powered engines, and that’s stopped, too.

The people committed to dragging the western world down to a third-world level of poverty know that they can accomplish their goals and put us irrevocably on the path to ruination now; by the time the naive chumps they rule wake up to the fact that air and sun aren’t “free”, and that scarce energy sold at boutique prices has impoverished them, it will be too late.

The same politicians who thought they could turn the world economy on and off like a light switch without massive disruption also seem to think that they can close down the entire energy industry and “see what happens” — if, d’uh, things don’t work out as planned, we’ll just reopen pipelines, resume exploring for oil and gas, restart the nuclear plants, and reopen engine factories without missing a beat.

Whoo boy.
