Critics are outraged, probably because the mother’s reason for doing it: the boy had tested positive for COVID, and she was scared to drive with him in the passenger compartment, was so stupid, but to arrest her for child endangerment? C’mon, man.

The only person I ever heard of who was injured while riding in the trunk of a car was George Kennedy, in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, and that was only because his shirttail stuck out from under the lid and the drive-in attendant spotted it and called the cops, who shot poor George dead.
