A modern street party breaks out on Summer Street

STAMFORD, CT — A man was stabbed and a woman was shot during a large-scale fight in downtown Stamford early Sunday morning, according to the Stamford Police Department.

At approximately 2:09 a.m., police were investigating "a large disturbance" in the area of lower Summer Street in which about 30-40 people were arguing and physically fighting with each other in the street, Capt. Thomas Scanlon of the SPD said in a news release Sunday afternoon.

Officers heard gunshots and saw several people fleeing the area, Scanlon said. Police found a 28-year-old man who was stabbed multiple times, and a 31-year-old woman who suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
