Grab the kids' vote before they skip town
/Brattleboro VT lowers voting age to 16.
A Vermont town will allow 16-and 17-year-olds to vote in their local elections after the Democratic-controlled state legislature overrode a veto from Republican Gov. Phil Scott.
The southern Vermont town of Brattleboro will be the first in the country to not only allow 16-year-olds to vote in municipal elections but to also hold the highest elected offices following the successful override of the governor’s veto of the charter change, ABC News reported Tuesday.
“The trouble was”, Democrat Chair Rufus Cowturd told FWIW as he rubbed his hands in glee, “we’ve had these kids thoroughly indoctrinated by 10th Grade, but we don’t get the benefit of that: they can’t vote, and by the time they can, they’re off to some college town and vote socialism into those towns, not ours. We want our share.
“And they’re the perfect Democrat voters”, he continued, “they don’t work, they don’t own property, so they don’t pay taxes. And their mushy brains are receptive to whatever we tell ‘em to believe. Brattleboro’s been liberal for fifty years, but this will ensure that it stays liberal for another 100 — unless it goes broke before then, of course, but that’ll never happen — not with the newfound prosperity this change will bring.”
