The political path of the Cornell rape allegation: 1) Initial police/DA investigation finds woman's participation was "voluntary, conscious, and consensual." No criminal charges filed. 2) Cornell University Office of Civil Rights investigation reaches finding consistent with police/DA, but concludes fraternity members violated school policies. Expels two frat members, suspends two others, bars one from campus, and shuts down fraternity permanently. 3) Seemingly settled, case fades. 4) Woman changes story, files much-publicized lawsuit blaming incident on fraternity, members, Cornell University, local bar, and her own sorority. 5) Case explodes politically. Local DA re-opens criminal investigation. I avoided fraternity boys when I was in college because I found them to be, mostly, juvenile, drunken louts, with little intellectual activity going on; college coeds might want to follow the same policy unless, of course, they want to go to all-night booze and drug gangbangs, as this young woman apparently did.
