French riots: they’re not just for migrants and truants anymore (they never were)

WHO'S WHO: Inside France's 'Chaos Inc.' franchise of communist groups, labor unions and global activists

Fox News Digital investigation identifies 54 groups behind France's unrest as communists prepare a November youth strike

A Fox News Digital investigation has identified 54 organizations and movements in France's October student protests and their wider network of supporters and international amplifiers, including communist parties, revolutionary socialist groups, labor unions, environmental activists, Muslim student advocates, Palestinian-solidarity organizations and international media outlets.

Of the 54 organizations identified in the October protest ecosystem, 16 — or only about one in three — are student or youth organizations, including communist youth groups and a Muslim student association. The remaining 38 include adult-led communist groups, labor unions, political parties, revolutionary-left organizations, advocacy groups and international propaganda outlets.

They include Gilets jaunes, or "Yellow Vests," a radical far-left group that led protests with other groups this weekend, and far-left socialist political party La France Insoumise (LFI), or France Unbowed.

From the outset, far-left socialist and communist organizations helped organize and amplify France’s student revolt, using grievances over school conditions as a pretext to mobilize a broader political struggle against capitalism, government austerity, policing and military spending.

…. Among the international amplifiers for this mayhem are organizations within the Singham network, including Tricontinental, named for a communist convention in Havana, Cuba, in 1966, CodePink and BreakThrough News, a New York-based media outlet, which promoted coverage of the weekend's mayhem in France with the headline: "ANTI-MACRON PROTESTS ROCK FRANCE."

It shared a montage of chaotic scenes from Montpellier, Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Strasbourg and Saint-Étienne, showing activists engulfed in smoke, Palestinian flags flapping above the crowds, black smoke billowing over flames and police hitting demonstrators with clubs. Its editors added a soundtrack of dramatic music. Its videos include politicians from the far-left socialist political party La France Insoumise (LFI).

In an interview with BreakThrough News, Jodie Evans, Singham's wife and co-founder of a far-left group he funded, CodePink, promoted a planned November campaign in Washington opposing U.S. military spending.

She explicitly invoked youth demonstrations abroad, including France, Spain and India, while urging Americans to participate in CodePink's campaign.

"I want people to look at France, Spain and India," Evans said, urging Americans to take to the streets.

And it’s not just a opinion piece Fox has published here, its reporters have committed real, actual journalism, and there’s a detailed list of them in its article.

Who’s who in Chaos Inc. in France identifies the 54 organizations in the international network promoting the riots and protests in France, from direct organizing to participation, public solidarity and media amplification.

As for opinion pieces, this one from PowerLine’s John Hinderaker is pretty good:

Who Burned Paris?

John Hinderaker: “France has been devastated by riots that have gone on for a month. The video footage is horrific, the destruction appalling. Today President Emmanuel Macron delivered a televised address on the riots. It struck me as weak, but I think he was right on one important point:

Yesterday, Saturday 17 October, factious elements from ultra-left groups, joined by numerous delinquents, engaged in unbridled violence in our cities. Businesses were looted, public buildings, shops, and town halls were attacked, and some were destroyed. Several hundred police officers and gendarmes were injured.

“Some in America, including both President Trump and Vice President Vance, made the riots all about immigration. Trump, for example, wrote on Truth Social:”

France is burning! The immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country. Close your Borders and take control, before it is too late!

“Of course I agree with Trump that France’s liberal immigration policies (like Britain’s and Germany’s, among others) have been a disaster. And lots of migrants participated in the rioting and looting that we have seen in recent days. But video footage indicates that there were plenty of native French citizens among the rioters, too.

“The riots were not disorganized or spontaneous. On the contrary, they were well organized and well supplied. I think Macron is right to emphasize the controlling role of the far Left–Communists–in the riots. The disorder may have been started by high school students, but it was quickly taken over by professional revolutionaries.

“It is notable, too, that the riots have not been confined to France. There has been violence and arson in Milan and across Italy, as well as in Belgium, Portugal and elsewhere. These riots all used the cost of living as a pretext, but they were fomented and led by the far Left, i.e., by Communists. As Macron said, the leftists were supplemented by criminals. This is natural: socialism is rule by a criminal gang, and is always popular with criminals.

“ …. After identifying the source of the riots, Macron’s speech went downhill. He drew a sharp but fictitious distinction between peaceful “demonstrators” and the criminals who have more recently rioted, but the reality is that these demonstrations were violent riots from the beginning.

“And Macron took seriously the idea that the riots have something to do with the cost of living, specifically the price of gasoline, for which he disclaimed any responsibility, and which he promised to try to remedy. But again, the idea that criminals are burning down buildings and looting stores because of the price of petrol is absurd and should not be indulged. As is often said, the issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution.”
