Valleywood contract

70 Valleywood Road, $1,150,000, contract in 12 days, which suggests multiple bids. Which also isn’t too surprising; Vallleywood’s always been a popular street despite its being a cut-through, and houses generally sell quickly here.

Certainly, the new owners may want to put some money into upgrades to this 1929 house: a new HVAC system would be a good place to start, but for what passes as low-income housing in Greenwich, not bad.

Did Biden pull anti-missile systems out of Middle East as a concession to Iran?

He’s undermining the Abraham Accord, releasing billions of dollars to the mullahs, relaxing sanctions against our enemy, and is now disarming our allies. Why?

The Patriot anti-missile systems were pulled from locations in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, and Kuwait. They were all systems installed during the Trump administration, intended to act as a deterrent to Iran and defend our allies in the region. Now, Congressman Ryan Stell of Wisconsin wants to know if these actions were taken as additional concessions to Iran as a result of Biden’s secret negotiations with Tehran. It’s a good question, right? (Free Beacon)

Ben and Jerry’s will stop selling its ice cream in Israel’s “occupied territories”.

“Well yes”, company spokesman Xi Anuradha conceded to FWIW, “we’ll keep selling our delicious product in China, but that’s only because our factory in Xinjiang affords deserving Uyghurs the vocational training essential for their personal development and education. And we’ll be going into Hong Kong soon! (shhh!) So needed, and the volunteer labor does help our bottom line.”

PJ Media’s Mat Margolis’s attitude towards this bullshit is close to mine, although I don't drink Starbucks:

Generally speaking, I don’t vote with my wallet. Most mornings, I drink Starbucks coffee. I shop on Amazon. My computer is an iMac, and I have an iPhone. If I spent all my time caring about the politics of every company I support by buying their products, I’d be a miserable person with no time. But Ben & Jerry’s keeps finding new ways to inspire me not to give them my business. This successful company boasts its progressive values on its website and bemoans that “capitalism and the wealth it produces do not create opportunity for everyone equally.”

… A visit to the company’s Twitter page is like listening to your crazy leftist uncle off his meds. Ben & Jerry’s has expressed support for defunding the police, radical climate policies, H.R. 1, and accusing Republicans of being racist.

Wooddale Road sale price reported

Screen Shot 2021-07-19 at 4.37.26 PM.png

17 Wooddale Road, $6.195 million asked, $6.175 got —April contract. Not a crazy price for the current market, in my opinion. Wooddale’s a nice, dead-end street, close to town, with some very impressive sales in its history. And this is a nice house; I haven’t seen it since either 2004 or 2011 (the years blur, memories of particular houses don’t, or haven’t, so far), and I liked it then. Well maintained since, it seems.

The owners paid $6.875 in 2004, and tried for $7.250 in 2011, then in the high-sixes from 2015-2019, all without success. This time, albeit at a lower price, it took 34 days to find a buyer.

20 sunshine avenue

20 sunshine avenue

All (7?) of the kids, including Joel, Jeremy and Jevera grew up on Sunshine Avenue, with all but the two boys surviving without noticeable ill effect (sharing a single cot in the attic can work a profound personality change, not always for the good), and I’m sure they were fond of the street, but 20 Sunshine going under contract while asking $1.550 million must come as a surprise. Or it surprises me, anyway.

The best thing about this market, for agents, is that we can “earn” our commission — in this case, $77,500 — with just about no effort. This place wouldn’t sell in 2016, or ‘17 at prices ranging from $1.599 to $1.450, but these days, the agent need only bring her Instamatic over for a quick run-through, post the results on the Internet, sit back and wait a few days, and pow! Easier than hooking an Asian Carp.

What a great time to be alive.
