How hot is the low end of the market? This hot:

DREAM HOUSE

DREAM HOUSE

64 Pond Place, Cos Cob, a rather dreadful raised ranch with no yard (but on a pleasant street), was priced at $899,000 and reports a contract today, six days later. Assuming the normal delay for building inspection and contract negotiations between the lawyers, it probably went the day it hit the market.

I don't think an outsider would be terribly surprised at what one can get at $6 million: you'd expect a mansion at that price and, usually, you get one. But it must be mind-blowing when they discover how little $900,000 buys.
