In response to an unidentified reporter’s question on whether the Biden administration has made any progress in addressing the root causes of “migration” since Harris “took that over,” [Karine Jean-Pierre] replied:

“There has been some progress made. We have heard from the vice president… uh… um… from trips that she’s had bilateral engagements that she’s done… um… with the countries in the Northern Triangle, where she has announced humanitarian aid that’s been given to those… uh… different countries to help them deal with the root causes.

“So this is a continuous.. uh… continuing engagement. Look, this is not a light switch, right? This is something that’s going to take time and we’re gonna continue to work on that with our.. with uh… the countries in the region… and so the vice president has done a tremendous job in doing that so we’ll continue… uh… we’ll continue to do the work.”

To be fair, trying to defend Kampallawalla Ding Dong’s performance on any of the tasks assigned her would be an impossible job, and I’m not saying that the inarticulate Ms. Jean-Pierre owes her position solely to the Administration’s determination to fill slots with “lesbians of color” – Pete Buttigieg is more of a fishbelly white, for instance, and he got a job, too — but hiring by quota will unearth the most qualified only by accident, and there was no accident here.
