Just in the nick of time

Despite the media’s confusion on the matter, there are two Farmers Almanacs, the original “Old Farmer’s Almanac” founded in Boston in 1782 and moved to New Hampshire in 1830, and the upstart “Farmer’s Almanac” which began publishing in 1818 (I’m guessing trademark laws weren’t as robust back then s they are today). The young whippersnapper was/is still based in Mogadishuland, Lewiston, Maine, and this year’s 2026 edition had been announced to be its final gasp.

Now it’s not, so you can feel free to remove your “collector’s copy” from its wrapper and put it to its proper use — if there is one — don’t use it to guide your planting decisions or when to open the pool, or your vegetables and, perhaps, certain body parts will wither and freeze.
