32 Hendrie Drive, asked $2.795 and got $2.802. It came with its own dock, down the street, which is usable at high water, but almost $3 million for almost 3,000 sq.ft. of 1925 house seems steep, to me. But the sellers paid $2.660 for it in 20012, so I guess not.
118 Glenwood Drive, $11.995 million, is pending. The agents involved in both sides of this sale were also involved in the home’s rental in May, so I’m guessing that the renter is converting to ownership.
465 Field Point Road, $11.995. Quick sale: it hit the market in November. Perhaps the buyer’s been stocking up on GameStop? He certainly wasn’t a short-seller.
Built in 1895, but as you’ll notice, that date’s pretty much irrelevant after all the renovations and additions over the years.
21 Windrose Way, in Mead Point, was purchased for $8 million in 2005 and after years on-and-off the rental market, was put up for sale in November ‘19 at $5.9, and there it sat. In April ‘20, just as the Chinese Flu market was taking off, broker Brad Hvolbeck raised the price to $6.2 million, and today reports a contract.
Ordinarily, the proper thing to do when a house refuses to sell is to lower its price, and that’s held true even in this market. But you’ll never find me arguing with Brad Hvolbeck, ever.
Very nice property, and I love Mead Point, but I’m not wild about this particular house. Then again, I’m very much not the target audience for $6 million houses, so I think we can disregard my personal taste in these matters.

A friend forwarded one of my innocuous posts to another friend, while inadvertently sending a copy to me. A few hours later, my friend wrote again:
Hi. Do me a favor? My [friend] is nervous about his politics being revealed in these perilous times. Would you kindly delete that email I mistakenly sent you, as well as my follow-up asking you to disregard it? I'd be most grateful.
Mind you, this involved private correspondence only, yet the recipient feared for the effect on his employment should it somehow be exposed. Self-censorship is now supplementing that of Big Tech, and that’s disheartening (understatement intended).
Supplementing, but not replacing. Yesterday, Facebook announced that it was banning ads calling for the recall of Governor Newsom. Not ads advocating his (richly-deserved) hanging, ads these merely called for the peaceful exercise of the right granted California’s citizens to recall elected officials. According to Facebook, such recall petitions are now permitted only when directed at conservatives.
UPDATE: Youtube has demonetized The Epoch Times. No reason was given, other than the usual “violates [unspecified] community standards”, but Epoch has been a harsh critic of the Chinese Communist Party — can’t have that.
