Remuddling of the month

66 binney.jpg

66 Binney Lane, new to the market today at $5.495. 1895 or 1905 construction (depending on which listing you read), it was in pretty sorry shape back in 2006, but still managed to fetch $3.9 back then, and now, after a long period of being rented out, it seems to have been freshened up.

I’m not sure of its virtues as a full-time residence, but I can see its appeal to a New York City family looking to escape on weekends and for the summer.

at this price, i’d want azek decking and rails, but for the traditionalist, weekend fixer-upper, I suppose this is a feature, not a bug

Even Dr. Rochelle “I Have a Sense of impending Doom” Walensky admits it: "vaccinated people don't carry the virus, and they don't get sick". 1:43 in. (Bonus: you can enjoy a Rachael Maddow intro).

So Pelosi won’t drop the mask mandate for Representatives, Walensky’s cohort still insists we wear masks in indoor settings with unvaccinated people, and seating at restaurants, bars, and stadiums is still restricted. Why? Because Joe Biden’s handlers say so, that’s why.

And they don't have to wear seat belts either

Cuomo exempts faculty and staff from mandatory vaccine requirements on public campuses

“These are intelligent, free adults”, Cuomo told FWIW, “ and they can decide for themselves whether they want to expose themselves to an unapproved vaccine. The masses, however, are morons, and must be taken by the hand and dragged off to our inoculation centers. After all, it's for their own good.”

Price cut on Richmond Hill

51 Richmond Hill, drops to $3.795 from $3.950.Purchased directly from its builder in 2018 for $3,102,300.

It seems rather unprepossessing, and Richmond Hill’s been a tough sell since the early 2000s, with millions lost on resales, but the streets been showing signs of life recently.

The trouble with a house never having been exposed to the market is that buyers are guessing at its value, rather than basing it on the reactions of others.

And new construction usually suffers a discount upon resale, not a premium, but these are different times, o who knows?

Well, New Yorkers and (other) liberals, anyway

“I felt self-brainwashed': Americans hit the streets after CDC ditches mask guidance but most are still too nervous to take them off

Despite being fully vaccinated, a woman named Marisa who was dining outdoors in Manhattan said she wasn't yet ready to unmask indoors.

'The idea that now I'm vaccinated I don't need to wear a mask indoors does sound very shocking. I don't know if I'm ready to go indoors without a mask yet,' she said.

'I definitely feel like I have been self brainwashed from reading everything - it's such a big shift and change. I'm definitely ready to be without a mask outside.'

Others said they would keep their masks handy and assess the situations they were in. Some said they would always wear a mask now on public transport.

'I'll probably continue indoors but I also have trust and faith in modern science. We feel like it's progress being made,' a woman in downtown Brooklyn said.

'If a business wanted it, I would. I still think people are going to hesitant. At least making people feel like it's an option.'

One man in Brooklyn added: 'I see it as kind of a sign of respect. In the past I associated with it being disrespectful. I'll keep it handy just in case.'
