52 Breezemont Avenue has closed at $4.780 million; original ask was $5.575 million, so, thankfully, it seems that it’s still possible to price a house above what anyone will pay.
Eleven years after starting off at $11.5 million 33 Meadow Wood Drive, currently priced at $8.950 million (up from a failed 2023 attempt at $7.6) reports a contract.
6 Gilliam Lane, built in 2009, 0.64-acres, $7.150 million. It looks nice enough, but I miss the former 1949 house with a yard entirely planted in pachysandra; many, many years ago, my mother suggested to the owner that she and her husband (a long-retired geologist with a major oil company) chose that landscaping to avoid mowing. “Well, yes”, the then 80-something-year-old replied, but then confided “actually Carl and I like to go out into the backyard and make love in it under the moonlight”. I don’t know why they preferred that to fescue or an air mattress, but long after that couple had passed, I still gave their memory an admiring chuckle as I drove by.
We had more interesting people in Riverside back then.
25 Hoover Road, NoPo, listed at $850,000 in September, went to highest and best offers immediately, and is now reported pending.
11 Field Road, $5.999 million. Purchased as land in June ‘24 for $1.950 on an asking price of $1.795.
Original house (1936)
Too steep a price for this location? I might have thought so a few years ago, but as I reported last week, new construction at 50 Hidden Brook, just around the corner, is pending at $8.490 million, so … no, this should do just fine.
(50 Hidden Brook before and after):
Hidden Brook (1954)

36 Cary Road, $1.850 million. It has a “licensed dock” on the Mianus river/pond, which makes all the difference between house prices on this side of Cary vs land-bound homes across the lane.
probably not the crowd obama and his co-conspirators envision
As if there weren’t enough domestic political catastrophes (that he helped create, incidentally) to tackle, Barack Obama is instead focusing his attention abroad, targeting the only region of the world that has maintained a strong white, European identity — a fact that has stuck in the craw of neoliberal social engineers for a very long time.
Obama aims to remedy their defiance of his subversive agenda with the help of a few (probably well-compensated) assets he’s recruited to the cause.
Via Obama.org (emphasis added):
President Barack Obama issued a stark warning against the rise in authoritarianism in a recent discussion with three members of the Obama Leadership Network, who are alumni of the Obama Foundation’s global leadership programs.
“I’ve become increasingly concerned about the rising wave of authoritarianism sweeping the globe,” President Obama said. “We’re seeing politicians target civil society, undermine freedom of the press, weaponize the justice system.”
“And no one is being spared,” he warned.
His comments come as the former president had a private discussion with three Obama Foundation program alumni who are working to bolster democracy in their home countries of Poland and Hungary.
Each of the alumni spoke at length with President Obama in an intimate conversation in London about their work supporting and revitalizing democracy and the struggles they’ve encountered.
“All three of you have been fighting the good fight and rising up in the face of significant challenges to try to strengthen democracy,” Obama said. “You're setting an example for all of us in the United States, here in the U.K.”
You know, like this:
Out of nearly a hundred kids photographed in this prom photo from County Donegal, Ireland, only about a dozen appear to be Irish, the rest being an assortment of African and Middle Eastern migrants or children of migrants.

And like this: Q.to Google: “Migrant crime in Sweden?”
A. Specific crime trends
Gang violence:
Organized gangs, whose members are often second or third-generation immigrants, are a significant driver of Sweden's rising homicide rates, which are among the highest in Europe due to gun violence.
Sexual offenses:
Some studies indicate that a significant majority of convicted rapists have a foreign background, particularly those from outside the European Union.
Robbery:
Migrants were overrepresented as suspects for robbery, according to one report.
Contributing factors
Integration challenges:
Factors such as high unemployment rates and a lack of housing in certain areas can create environments where gangs can thrive and recruit, especially among immigrant youth.
Policy and social issues:
Critics suggest that a combination of liberal migration policies, a lack of accompanying integration policies, and socioeconomic disadvantages have contributed to the rise in crime, particularly gang violence.
Social marginalization:
The failure of societal structures to integrate newcomers has been cited as a contributing factor, creating a cycle of crime in some communities.
Government and societal response
Policy changes:
The government has responded by tightening immigration and integration policies, making it harder for immigrants from outside the EU to access social benefits, and implementing measures to combat gang crime.
Focus on youth:
Efforts are being made to combat gang recruitment and make it a criminal offense to recruit children for criminal activities.
Strengthened law enforcement:
New measures include stop-and-search zones and increased prison sentences for certain offenses.
And:
The Scandinavian nation of 10.6 million people is facing a national crisis because of its failure to successfully integrate record numbers of immigrants.
There was a time when Sweden was looked upon by American liberals as an inspirational example of the Scandinavian welfare state. Although Europeans were less impressed, even the country’s immediate neighbors tended to, grudgingly, accept Sweden as a senior brother.
After staying out of World War II, Sweden had evolved into a high-performing export-oriented economy, based on a stable parliamentary democracy and social consensus. The country had top-notch health care and education. It enjoyed social and gender equality, had low crime rates and little ethnic conflict. While grounds remain for optimism about some of these indicators, especially in the industrial sector, most have been transformed beyond recognition.
Present-day Sweden carries the dubious distinction of having the highest rate of gangland killings in Europe. It boasts the lowest average age of serious offenders, with children in their low teens being arrested for murder. Increasing segments of suburbs are officially classified as “especially vulnerable areas,” where it is “hard, bordering on impossible” for the police to operate. In layman’s terms, these are no-go zones, where local clans rule and where first responders will not enter without flak jackets and police escort.
An early warning was provided in 2017 when United States President Donald Trump made a quip about rioting in Sweden: “You look at what’s happening last night in Sweden. Sweden, who would believe this!” Who indeed? At the time, such comments were met with disdain and ridicule. Today, it is not so funny anymore.
Sweden has transitioned from being a model of inspiration to becoming a warning example. As gangland violence is spreading across borders, its Scandinavian neighbors experience growing fears of ending up in what is known in Denmark as the “Swedish condition.”

Chris Queen summed up the situation on PJMedia this past September 8th:
“Last week, Lee Cohen wrote a column in The Spectator that resonated deeply with me”
Today, for the first time, I find Britain indefensible. The affection and historical respect remains. The confidence is gone.
Britain now prosecutes her own citizens, not for violence or treason, but for words. Lucy Connolly was sentenced to 31 months in prison for a tweet in the wake of the Southport murders last year. Her crime was expression, harsh perhaps, but still speech. This week, Graham Linehan, the award‑winning creator of Father Ted, was arrested at Heathrow Airport by armed officers for online comments defending women’s spaces. Arrested, by police carrying weapons, for his opinions. This is the country that gave the world John Stuart Mill.
“Such cases expose what Britain has become: a two‑tier system of justice. Those branded far‑right, nationalist, or ‘Islamophobic’ are persecuted with zeal,” Cohen added. “Those spreading incendiary rhetoric from Islamist or minority factions are, all too often, met with indulgence.”
Cohen cited not just the crackdown on social media users who express conservative views, but also local governments cracking down on patriotic Britons who fly the Union Jack or St. George’s Cross. The same nation that survived the Great Fire of London, the Blitz, and the Falklands War can’t handle patriotism in the face of unchecked Muslim immigration.
“Meanwhile, foreign flags fly freely across London without question,” he wrote. “The message is unmistakable: pride in your own country is suspect. Allegiance to any other is acceptable.”
He continued:
From abroad, the shift is impossible to ignore. Elon Musk has called Britain’s censorship Soviet‑style. JD Vance has condemned its crackdown on speech. The US State Department now lists Britain as a country presenting significant risks to free expression. I never imagined America would place Britain alongside nations that treat liberty as a nuisance. That day has come.
For those of us who have long defended Britain, it is heartbreaking. This is the country whose strong institutions enabled America’s own rise and whose commitment to liberty inspired ours. Yet under its current leadership, Britain has stumbled into repression, constraint, and fear, where ordinary citizens look over their shoulders before speaking.
Mind you, we have the same two-tiered justic system operating here in the US:
…. Two teenagers who jumped former DOGE staffer Edward “Big Balls” Coristine have avoided jail after pleading guilty to simple assault at a Washington, DC, court.
The boy and girl, both 15, from Hyattsville, Maryland, were sentenced to probation at a DC court on Tuesday, just over two months after the pair were arrested for the savage Aug. 3 attack, WUSA9 reported.
The boy was handed a 12-month probation and allowed to return home under strict house arrest, while the girl was given a nine-month probation and remanded to a local youth shelter.
BREAKING - DC Judge Kendra Briggs has allowed the two “teens” who jumped Edward ‘Big Balls’ Coristine to avoid jail and sentenced them to simple probation, stating her job is to “rehabilitate,” not punish. pic.twitter.com/7LRv7fVbQP
— Right Angle News Network (@Rightanglenews) October 15, 2025
The violent pair were part of a group that was terrorizing the streets of D.C. about a mile from the White House. Coristine was unlucky enough to cross their path:
“Let me get your car! Let me get your car,” the group said, according to prosecutors. While the other person was able to get into the vehicle and lock the doors, Coristine remained outside and was pummeled by attackers.
Although there were numerous lawbreakers, the two teens who were just giving their walking papers were the only ones charged.
If you’ve ever wondered where Edward got his nickname, meanwhile, here’s how that came about: he was reportedly given that moniker in high school and then, as a joke, put it in his LinkedIn profile when he entered the professional world. “People on LinkedIn take themselves super seriously, and they’re pretty averse to risk, and I was like, ‘Well, I want to be neither of those things.’ So I just, I set it and honestly, I didn’t think anybody would notice,” he said.
That’s funny, but what happened to him on the streets of the nation’s capital—and the lack of consequences for those who did it to him—is anything but.
PJMedia’s Matt Margolis has similar thoughts:
Judge Kendra Briggs, a black woman and a Biden appointee, handed down probation to a pair of 15-year-olds who participated in a violent assault on Edward Coristine near the White House in early August. Coristine, who worked for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and went by the nickname "Big Balls," was left bloodied on Swann Street with a broken nose and concussion after being attacked by a group attempting a carjacking. The two teens pleaded guilty to simple assault and walked away without spending a single day behind bars.
Instead of jail time, Judge Briggs ordered probation with conditions that sound more like a grounding than actual consequences. The teens can't communicate with each other, can't get in vehicles without permission, must stay out of Washington except for legal appointments or family events, and have to complete 90 hours of community service. They'll be on electronic monitoring with a curfew, and the girl will undergo weekly drug testing and treatment. It's a slap on the wrist for what amounts to a vicious attack on a federal employee.
President Trump didn't mince words about the decision. “They beat the hell out of this guy. There was many people against this one guy, who was really trying to protect his girlfriend,” he said. He called the sentencing "terrible" and said the judge should be "ashamed."
“And the case—I heard—was like flawless,” Trump added. “It's a flawless case. They have them on tape. They have everything, and then a judge gives them a little probation.”
Elon Musk, the former head of DOGE, went even further.
“This was a racist verdict by a racist judge,” he said in a post on X. “The simple test to apply is if the races has been reversed, the White kids would be in prison.”
Musk added, “Equal justice for all!”
Judge Briggs justified her leniency by emphasizing rehabilitation over punishment, citing the teens' troubled backgrounds. The girl apparently has a history of trauma and prior school issues. Both teens live in Maryland with their respective parents, who attended the hearing virtually. The girl even has another unresolved case pending in Maryland. But here's the thing: troubled backgrounds don't give anyone a free pass to terrorize innocent people on the streets.
The judge acknowledged during the hearing that these teens were part of a group terrorizing U Street and said she would act if probation conditions were violated. That's reassuring. I guess we’re supposed to feel better because maybe, possibly, if they violate probation, there might be consequences then? Meanwhile, Edward Coristine had to get medical treatment for his injuries while his attackers went home.

Fortunately for Texas groomers, another site has been found — phew!
Following community backlash, Typhoon Texas Waterpark has canceled its agreement to host a “family-friendly” LGBT event in Katy.
The Katy Pride Celebration’s Saturday event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m was set to launch with a parade around the park followed by entertainment, including a DJ, a drag queen, a drag king, a closet runway show, and a Kids Zone featuring “activities for families and children which will include inflatables, yard games, crafts, and more.”
…. While the celebration was originally set to be held at Typhoon Texas, event organizers announced Wednesday night that the venue had abruptly canceled.
In an email posted to their website, organizers said they were “deeply disappointed to announce the abrupt cancellation of their scheduled event—originally planned and contracted over a year ago. Despite a signed agreement in April and extensive preparation, the venue, Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Katy, cancelled the event less than 72 hours before its scheduled date, citing unspecified ‘security concerns.’”
Katy Pride added that “no credible threats were made against the event.”
Instead, those concerns appear to have stemmed largely from public backlash—specifically, calls from local residents, current and former Katy ISD school board members, and one lawful, peaceful protest planned for Saturday. Residents urged the waterpark to cancel the event, describing it as “not family-friendly.”
Tonight’s kickoff event has been moved to First Christian Church Katy. Katy Pride says it plans to announce the new location for Saturday’s main event soon.
First Christian Church has been openly “accepting and affirming” LGBT ideologies since 2006. The church’s “Transparent Closet” is a secret cross-dressing boutique featuring chest binders, fake genitalia, and a selection of clothes and undergarments of the opposite sex for children to choose from.
Transparent Closet is a free clothing boutique for youth, teens, and young adults who are transitioning or gender exploring. Today, the closet offers clothing, shoes, jewelry, binders, and more. Everything in the closet is free and offers a place for youth and young adults to shop and try on clothes that is safe.
What happens in Maine pretty much stays in Maine, so who outside the Land of the Subaru should care about the politics in this backwater of irelevancy? Probably no one, except that the (loud, very loud) call of the new generation of Democrat voters is drowning out and replacing that of Maine’s other type of loons, just as it’s doing in other Blue states, and that’s going to make the next two years … interesting.
Maine’s Democratic senatorial primary is revealing a potential split in the party between the established Democrats who urged Gov. Janet Mills (D-Maine) to run and prominent left-wing voices and younger voters who prefer the radical but untested Graham Platner.
For example, Sohali Vaddula, Vice President of the College Democrats of America has announced that “College Democrats are proud to endorse @grahamformaine for U.S. Senate! Graham Platner is marine veteran and oyster farmer who understands the needs of the working class and will be a strong champion for those our party has let down.”
The Maine Wire reports:
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) recently submitted a Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing creating the joint Maine Senate Victory 2026 fund with Mills for Maine, showing that the establishment organization intends to help Mills win over the more radical Platner.
While Mills’ age could prove an issue against the 72-year-old five-term incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Platner’s more radical persona could pose a challenge for voters who have historically preferred Sen. Collins’ moderate centrism.
Nevertheless, a number of younger Democrat political groups, including Gen-Z for Change, Voters of Tomorrow, Youth Save Democracy, and College Democrats of America, all threw their weight behind the newbie Platner on the day Mills announced her candidacy.
David Hogg, a young Democrat who rose to prominence as a gun-control activist and who served a brief term as co-vice president of the Democratic National Committee, expressed his support for Platner as a younger candidate he believes can appeal to the young male voters that Democrats desperately need.
“Proud to join some of the largest Dem youth orgs and endorse @grahamformaine. After our loss in 2024, conversations have rightly centered on age, loss of young men/working class, and the growing disillusionment of young voters. Graham is the kind of candidate we need,” said Hogg.
Well, with David Hogg behind him, how can this man of the people lose?
Other Democrat “strategists” also question the traditional party leaders’ endorsement of Mills:
and the irresponsibility of entering a primary in a tricky state like maine when there's already a frontrunner with tons of momentum, grassroots fundraising, massive events, earned media, union endorsements, youth support, etc etc
— Bhavik Lathia (@bhaviklathia) October 15, 2025
And one commie recognizes another:
Graham Platner is a great working class candidate for Senate in Maine who will defeat Susan Collins.
— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) October 9, 2025
It’s disappointing that some Democratic leaders are urging Governor Mills to run. We need to focus on winning that seat & not waste millions on an unnecessary & divisive primary.
Naturally, some uncomfortable social media posts by the oyster farmer are being turned up; fortunately for him, New Democrats won’t care — in fact, as they’re demonstrating in New York City, they wholeheartedly approve of these sentiments.
Have you heard about Graham Platner? He's being called Maine's Mamdani and, like Tim Walz before him (or at least what Walz was supposed to be), Platner combines far-left sensibilities with a kind of plain-spoken blue-collar approach that seems to be the left-wing ideal now. This is a tattooed veteran and business owner who would fit right in at a GOP rally, but he's talking about oligarchs and billionaires like he's Bernie Sanders.
My name is Graham Platner and I’m running for US Senate to defeat Susan Collins and topple the oligarchy that’s destroying our country.

I’m a veteran, oysterman, and working class Mainer who’s seen this state become unlivable for working people. And that makes me deeply angry. pic.twitter.com/QZfAm528N1
“…. Today, just in time for Halloween, some of those skeletons came flying out of the closet. CNN's Andrew Kaczynski has a story up looking at Platner's social media history taken from Reddit. It turns out he's a self-described communist who hates cops.”
In one now-deleted Reddit comment from 2021, Platner responded to a thread about people becoming more conservative as they age by saying: “I got older and became a communist.” The comment was made on a subreddit called r/Antiwork, a far-left forum “for those who want to end work.”...
In another Reddit post that year, Platner reflected on his life after his military service, saying he was “a vegetable growing, psychedelics taking socialist these days. After the war, I’ve pretty much stopped believing in any of the patriotic nonsense that got me there in the first place, and am a firm believer that the best thing a person can do is help their neighbors and live a loving life.”
“Still got the guns though,” he added. “I don’t trust the fascists to act politely.”...
In one deleted comment, in a thread about a Black army lieutenant who was held at gunpoint and pepper-sprayed by police during a traffic stop, one Reddit user wrote, “Bastards. Cops are bastards.” Platner replied, “All of them, in fact.”
Platner also frequently weighed in on police violence, arguing that misconduct was “a problem that extends deep into the profession as a whole” and rejecting claims of accidental shootings after incidents such as the killing of Minneapolis Black man Daunte Wright, writing, “F**k these cops.”...
In another since-removed post from 2020, Platner responded to a thread titled “White people aren’t as racist or stupid as Trump thinks” by writing, “Living in white rural America, I’m afraid to tell you they actually are.”
That last one should go over great in rural Maine, which is about 91% white. He might also have limited his own appeal with anyone who likes America. He wrote in another Reddit forum in 2021 "I did used to love America, or at least the idea of it. These days I’m pretty disgusted by it all."
CNN gave him a chance to comment and Platner denied that he really believed any of those things. "That was very much me f**king around the internet," he told CNN. He added, "“I’m not a communist. I’m not a socialist. I own a small business."
As for his comments about the police, he says he has a bunch of friends who are cops and assures CNN, "They’re not all bastards..."
Does he think white people are racist and stupid? "I don’t believe that," he explained.
Which Graham Platner is more likely to be the real one? Is it the guy commenting anonymously online four years ago who had no reason to lie or is it the one in the midst of a Senate campaign today who has everyone reason to distance himself from this? I think we all know the answer to that.
But we've also learned that progressives probably don't care about any of this. Many of them also hate cops and America and white people. These are some of their core beliefs too. If saying these things out loud offended the Democratic party than Platner's race would be over. It won't be. It wouldn't surprise me if his fundraising went up after this.
(By the way, Platner’s denunciation of “The Oligarchy” is hardly new; but the old commie in VT has been on it for years)
