There'll always be an England, you'll just have to say it in Urdu

Cadbury store in Lincolnshire, England renames Easter Eggs “Gesture Eggs” . Is “gesture” short for gestation? I don’t get it, but I’m sure Cadbury’s new Middle Eastern friends do.

Cadbury’s Chocolate store slammed for renaming Easter Eggs ‘Gesture Eggs’ to avoid upsetting those of different faiths. The chocolate company is selling the eggs at a branded Cadbury discount store in Lincolnshire, UK. Christian customers have reacted furiously on X to the sign calling it ‘outrageous.’ The company however has claimed the specific store that features the sign is run “completely independently” and they were not directly responsible for the “gesture eggs” - instead saying the retailer that operates the store solely made the decision.

Wackie Pakies comprise just 1.6% of Lincolnshire’s 775,524 residents, but they’re the ones with the bombs, so perhaps the retailer’s concern is understandable. Still, here’s a good question:

From the original Telegraph article:

‘Easter’ has gone missing before

It is not the first time the chocolate company has come under fire for omitting the word “Easter” in its marketing.

A row erupted after a National Trust Easter egg trail, sponsored by Cadbury, was renamed the “Great British Egg Hunt” in 2017.

Cadbury said at the time it wanted to appeal to non-Christians, saying: “We invite people from all faiths and none to enjoy our seasonal treats.”
