Are there no Asian citizens in the U.K? Aren't they endangered by this recklessness?

‘and don’t get me started on those friggin’ south Africans and Brazilians!”

‘and don’t get me started on those friggin’ south Africans and Brazilians!”

CNN’s Chris Cuomo defends referring to the U.K. variant, “because that’s where we believe the origin is. Totally different from Trump”.

Meanwhile, around the globe, citizens of Hong Kong, Lyme, CT, and the Rocky Mountains are in hiding after left wing commenters like Cuomo blamed them for unleashing deadly diseases onto the world.

Sad.

(I don’t want to be understood as saying that just Asians are threatened by our media’s blatant racism: from Germans blamed for measles, to Guianians torched for introducing guinea worms, to those damn flu-ridden Dagos in Spain, the whole world has suffered, and all because of white supremacy.

If only Greenwich's police chief had the same integrity

South Portland, ME police Chief resigns after 14 months to accept a private job.

It’s a great thing to see an individual follow his conscience, and if this cop feels that the force he commands is a tool of racist oppression, then good on him for quitting.

But other than hanging around long enough to collect his six-figure pension, why is James Heavy, who apparently shares his South Portland counterpart’s low opinion of the people under his command, still lurking in our Public Safety Complex’s hallways?

Here’s the story on South Portland’s Chief Sheehan — a distinction without a difference:

Sheehan participated in a Black Lives Matter rally last June. Roughly 300 people marched from the high school down Highland Avenue to the police station, chanting "Say His Name, George Floyd." Standing in front of the police station, Sheehan asked the crowd to kneel and pray that no other acts of police violence involving a black person ever happen again.

Double masking, triple masking, shutdowns or freedom; maybe we just call the whole thing off?

DO MASKS WORK?

“We are surrounded by sheep people wearing masks. Photographs taken during the past year will forever be recognizable as dating from the era of covid hysteria. Dr. Fraudci and others assure us that masks work, although if you plot cases, hospitalizations or deaths against dates when mask mandates were adopted, it is impossible to see any effect. And studies that purport to “prove” the effectiveness of masks fall apart on examination.

At American Thinker, Spike Hampson applies a simple test. He compares the combined covid death rates of the ten states that have never had mask mandates with the combined death rates of the 40 states that do have mask mandates. The result:

States with a mask mandate: 13.0 deaths per 10,000 population.

States with no mask mandate: 12.6 deaths per 10,000 population.

But maybe the problem is that some states waited too long to impose a mask mandate. So Hampson tried another test: the ten states that have never had mask mandates vs. the ten states that imposed such mandates the earliest. The result:

[T]he “bottom ten” outperform the “top ten” by a small but noteworthy margin (12.6 deaths per 10,000 versus 13.3 deaths per 10,000).

Do masks kill people? Probably not, but they certainly don’t appear to do any good. Of course, mask advocates could argue that the states that imposed mandates did so because they had more covid than the states that didn’t, and their numbers would be even worse but for the wearing of masks. That hypothesis could be tested, but given the pretty much universal spread of the Wuhan virus, it lacks any plausibility.

The best we can say for masks is that they probably don’t do much harm. Shutdowns are worse–equally ineffective, but with catastrophic consequences, especially for our young people. Other than Operation Warp Speed, our entire response to the covid epidemic has been a fiasco.”

New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker claims Greenwich uses zoning to exclude colored people, denies claim that our town is 27% minority.

Kimberly Fiorello, R-Greenwich, repeatedly press[ed] Elicker for specific examples of when Greenwich had discriminated against people through zoning laws.

“You made an incredible accusation against my town, and I’d like to understand how to wrap my mind around it,” said Fiorello, who represents parts of Greenwich and Stamford. She said she wanted Elicker to “enlighten her” about how Greenwich had been discriminatory.

“This is illegal activity,” she said. “To use zoning to keep people of color out is absolutely illegal.”

Under questioning from Fiorello, Elicker said that Greenwich is “predominantly white.” And Fiorello responded by saying the town is “very diverse” with a 27 percent non-white population.

“You can keep saying it — it doesn’t make it true,” Fiorello said. “Unless you have real evidence to prove it, I think it is quite a statement for Mayor Elicker to be making against the town of Greenwich.”

FWIW presented Mayor Elicker with the latest U.S. Census Data on the racial make-up of Greenwich, but he was unpersuaded: “yeah, you may say ‘27 percent minority’, but 7% of those are Asian [Americans] — we all know they’re successful, so they’re just ‘adjacent whites’ and count as white folks, unless my constituents be beatin’ on them, in which case, they’re victims of white supremacy racism: they still don’t count as colored people. So don’t jive me, man, we oppressed!”

New Riverside Listing

288 riverside.jpg

288 Riverside Avenue (Sandy shaw, co-agent) One of my former listings, we sold it new in 2007 for $3.850. Beautifully made by Lou van Leeuwen, but I always questioned his architect’s decision to put the master bedroom on the north wall, overlooking the road, rather than on the south side which offers more light and at least a semblance of water glimpses.

It’s right at the top of Rossbottom Hill, so walking to the schools and train is easy, if less of a physical workout.

Biden falls while attempting to board Air Force One

You can’t see where President Harris is from this picture, which I, at least, find suspicious

(The NY Post reports, and it has the video to prove it, that he fell not once, not twice, but three times before finally getting up).

UPDATE: “Karma’s a bitch” (so’s Kamala, but …)

President Biden once took a swipe at Donald Trump over how his predecessor walked down a ramp at West Point — in light of his own stair stumble on Friday.

“Look at how he steps and look at how I step,” Biden said in September 2020 — referring to the former president gingerly walking down what he later called a “slippery” ramp after delivering a commencement speech.

“Watch how I run up ramps and he stumbles down ramps. OK? Come on.”

Florida Man arrested for drilling holes in walls and watching naked tenants for over a decade

Florida police arrested a landlord who allegedly drilled holes in walls to watch female tenants and stalk them, with allegations dating back for roughly a decade, numerous sources reported.

Steven Fair, 61, was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of voyeurism, one count of stalking, and six counts of burglary in an unoccupied dwelling, WPTV reported, based on the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office booking records.
