Jeff Bezos, Climate Scold, Buys 4th Private Jet for $80 Million

It's Bezos's fourth private jet. Yes, really.

The billionaire Amazon founder last month purchased a Gulfstream G700, luxury business jet manufactured by Gulfstream Aerospace that’s considered one of the largest and most advanced private jets in the world, according to Business Insider.

With a maximum range of around 7,500 nautical miles, the G700 is also said to be capable of reaching top speeds of Mach 0.925 — or around 92.5% of the speed of sound, around 710 m.p.h.

… Last Sunday, the G700 took off from Ibiza. 

At around the same time, Bezos and fiancée Lauren Sánchez were photographed on the island near the mogul’s $500 million superyacht.

…. Publicly available flight data showed that Bezos’ plane made 28 flights in 39 days — leaving a carbon footprint of 264 tons, or 17 times what the average American emits in a year.

… Bezos - just with this airplane alone - [is] putting out roughly the carbon footprint of Belize, 17 times what we SUV-driving Americans put out in a year …. What a clown - a hypocritical, virtue-signaling clown.

Look, if Jeff Bezos was just living the lifestyle of the rich and famous and keeping his mouth shut about what the rest of us do, I wouldn't begrudge him one square inch of the rich Corinthian leather (Corinth is famous for its leather!) on the aftmost seat in that Gulfstream jet. It's his money, and he can do as he likes with it. 

But it's the finger-wagging at the rest of us about our carbon footprints that makes this intolerable. He even lectured the Pope - who appears to agree with him.

Pope Francis met with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, vice chair of the Bezos Earth Fund, at the Vatican to discuss climate change.

Sánchez posted photos of the meeting at the Domus Sanctae Marthae, the residence where Fancis (sic) lives, in an Instagram post Aug. 15, saying that the pope’s “wisdom, warmth, and humor were deeply touching.”

Honestly, it would serve the guy right to have a bunch of climate-protesting nitwits super-glue their hands to his new airplane. That would not only be funny, it would be a nice little serving of karma for an outrageous hypocrite.

…. Biden, for all of his tough talk, is AWOL. Foreign Policy reported Wednesday that "frustration is mounting on Capitol Hill" because "the Biden administration has failed to meet a deadline to provide Congress with a detailed written report of its strategy for the war in Ukraine."

"The strategy report was due to be submitted to Congress in early June as a requirement of the multibillion-dollar package of military aid for Ukraine and other U.S. allies," but Biden has yet to submit it 10 weeks later.

BUSTED: Judy Woodruff Made Up a Story About Trump, and Her Explanation Makes It So Much Worse

The journalism industry continues to cover itself in glory at the DNC, with essentially every mainstream press outlet debasing itself in pursuit of getting Kamala Harris elected. Long-time reporter Judy Woodruff provided the latest example when she appeared to make up a story involving Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Woodruff, who was anchoring PBS News' live coverage from the DNC, Trump colluded with the Israeli prime minister to stop a ceasefire deal in Gaza because it would "help" Harris. Here are her original comments, which occurred on Monday evening.

WOODRUFF: The reporting is that former President Trump is on the phone with the prime minister of Israel urging him not to cut a deal right now because it's believed that would help the Harris campaign. I don't know where, I don't know, who knows whether that will come about or not, but I have to think the Harris campaign would like for President Biden to do what presidents do, which is to work on that one, and maybe there are some other domestic issues that, you know, they'd like to see come home.

That's quite the accusation, and one you'd think a seasoned reporter wouldn't make without impeccable sourcing. It smacks of the Russian collusion hoax, being yet another claim that Trump is somehow using foreign sources to "interfere" in the election. 

Notably, Trump advising Netanyahu not to take a deal with Hamas would be smart policy given Hamas is a terrorist organization that needs to be destroyed as a governing force in Gaza, but that's beside the point. The story wasn't true, with both sides denying any such discussions took place. 

Woodruff then went back on air to offer a quasi-clarification, explaining that she was just repeating reporting from Axios and Reuters.

At no point did any news outlet report that Trump told Netanyahu to not take a deal with Hamas, much less for political reasons as Woodruff claimed. She made the story up out of whole cloth, and then, instead of admitting it, doubled down on lying about it by blaming other outlets.
