Anti-Israel Columbia students call for 'total eradication of Western civilization'

“NEW YORK CITY (TND) — Columbia University students protesting the school’s investments tied to Israel advocated on Thursday for the “total eradication” of Western civilization.

A group named Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), which consists of more than 100 organizations, issued a statement of support for Bengali protesters. They noted the “revolution must continue” after former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country ahead of a planned march on her residence.

The Bengali protesters opposed Hasina’s rule and a quota system for government jobs. They planned to march on her home on Monday before she escaped to India.”

“We are Westerners fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization,” CUAD said in a [now deleted] Instagram post.

We stand in full solidarity with every movement for liberation in the Global South,” the group added. “Our Intifada is an internationalist one – we are fighting for nothing less than the liberation of all people.”

House Republican support grows for keeping clean energy tax breaks.

In a letter shared exclusively with POLITICO, 21 House Republicans — whose districts have drawn billions in new investments because of the Inflation Reduction Act incentives — said developing clean energy was critical for the U.S. to meet President Donald Trump’s goal of becoming “energy dominant.” And they threatened to resist their colleagues’ efforts to gut the law to help pay for a small fraction of the GOP’s multi-trillion-dollar tax-cut package.

“We have 20-plus members saying, ‘Don’t just think you can repeal these things and have our support,’” said Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.), who organized the letter.

The growing pushback against eliminating the IRA’s hundreds of billions of dollars in tax credits and other incentives — which have largely benefited GOP-controlled districts — will complicate efforts by House Republicans to slash federal outlays without shrinking Medicaid spending as they seek to offset the tax cuts in their budget bill.

It’s a pretty house, in its own way, with a slightly odd layout that was workable.
