Problem, solution

No no no!

Earlier this week, our RTM rejected Scott Frantz’s offer of a free statue of G.W. Bush because of disputes over its location.

Yesterday, a FWIW reader suggested that a statue of Israel Putnam presently standing in Redding be removed from that inconsequential town and erected at the top of the steps of our Put’s Hill.

My guess is that the residents of Redding, inconsequential or not, might object to a high-handed confiscation of their statue by Greenwich, so what are we to do? The solution is so obvious, so simple, I’m astonished that it’s been left up to me to make all right: put George on Israel’s horse and mount him on the grounds of Knapp’s Tavern.
