In-town price cut

3 Anderson Road has dropped from its original September price of $9.850 million to $9.350. I’ve been watching this with curiosity because in some ways, the house has a lot going for it: 9,000+ square feet of new construction, 0.78-acres, pool, and a 3-car garage all should appeal to some buyers, and its architecture, while not to my taste, is probably acceptable to a different segment of the market.

But Anderson Road itself is not precisely in the garden spot of Greenwich, and $9 million to live there? As I say, I’m curious to see how this fares.

Kill all' for 'martyrdom': How Pakistani immigrant allegedly planned to attack US University of Delaware police campus - details

/ TIMESOFINDIA.COM / Updated: Dec 04, 2025, 08:35 IST

A University of Delaware student, Luqmaan Khan, was arrested with a cache of weapons, body armor, and a manifesto detailing plans for a mass shooting and seeking "martyrdom." Police found the arsenal in his truck and later at his home, including an illegal automatic weapon. Khan allegedly expressed a desire to become a martyr.

A Pakistan-origin man studying at the University of Delaware was arrested after police discovered a large collection of guns, ammunition and body armour, along with a manifesto that allegedly described plans to "kill all" and seek "martyrdom" in a mass shooting on the University campus, The New York Post reported.Police arrested 25-year-old Luqmaan Khan just before midnight on November 24. Officers found him sitting in his pickup truck in a park after closing hours, and decided to search the vehicle because he was acting suspiciously.

Inside the truck, officers allegedly found a .357 Glock pistol, several loaded 27-round magazines, body-armor plates, binoculars, a laptop and a marble composition notebook. Prosecutors said the pistol had been placed into a kit that turned it into a semi-automatic rifle. The police also recovered a notebook reportedly describing a plan to attack his former school’s campus police department, including a drawn-out map of the police headquarters with marked entry and exit points. The plan included evading law enforcement team after attack.ABC 6 reported that the writings included phrases like “kill all – martyrdom,” explained how to escape after the attack, and described how several weapons would be used.

Police said the notes clearly showed “premeditated assault plans” and “warfare techniques.”The exact reason for the planned attack is still unknown, but Khan allegedly told police after his arrest that becoming a martyr was “one of the greatest things you can do.”

“This case is a quintessential example of federal and state law enforcement collaborating to neutralize a grave threat to Delaware before the worst could come to pass. I want to thank our dedicated law enforcement partners at the FBI and the NCCPD for their exceptional work. As always, we are proud to work with them to keep Delaware safe,” said Acting US Attorney Murray. One campus police officer was specifically mentioned in the notes, but the reason is not yet known.

Who is Luqmaan Khan?

Police told The Post that Khan was born in Pakistan but has lived in the United States since he was a “youth,” and he is now an American citizen. After his arrest, the FBI searched his home in Wilmington and found even more weapons. Agents recovered an AR-style rifle with a red-dot scope and another Glock pistol, which had an illegal device that turned it into a fully automatic machine gun capable of firing 1,200 rounds per minute.Khan was taken to the New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with resisting arrest, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, multiple weapon violations and related offenses. He was arraigned, given a $107,200 cash bail, and then handed over to the FBI, which may file additional charges.

PJ Media’s Robert Spenser has noted the significant omission of key details by our own mainstream media:

Delaware Undergrad Had Machine Gun and Manifesto Targeting Cops But You’ll Hear Nothing About It

….[Y]ou’re unlikely to hear much about this incident from the establishment media, for the perpetrator was not, to the inconsolable disappointment of leftist “journalists” and policymakers everywhere, one of those “right-wing extremists” that the Biden regime couldn’t stop warning us about. Instead, his name is Luqmaan Khan, and he appears to be intent on proving President Donald Trump correct when he said: “Our country's at a tipping point. We could go bad. We're going to go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country."

…. In the handful of establishment media stories that bothered to cover the arrest of Luqmaan Khan at all, most make no mention at all regarding Khan’s immigration status. Only WHYY, which operates in Philadelphia and its environs, including Delaware, bothers to note that Khan was born in Pakistan, and is now a citizen of the United States. In other words, he is another indication that Trump, for all the abuse he is getting for terming some migrants “garbage,” was entirely correct.

… Only the WHYY report provides any indication of Khan’s motive. It points out that Khan’s notebook “included the phrase ‘battle efficiency: kill all – martyrdom.’ Martyrdom is discussed repeatedly in his writings.” Also, “during an interview with Khan, police say he told them becoming a martyr was ‘one of the greatest things you can do’ and was one of his goals.”

I did scour the internet yesterday when I wrote the first draft of this post, and found that Spenser was essentially correct: major media has deemed the nationality and motives of this terrorist too potentially upsetting for its consumers.

Late yesterday afternoon the NYPost finally caught up with the story:

Pakistani immigrant arrested with car full of guns, plans to carry out mass shooting— and chilling note about ‘martyrdom’

Otherwise, our national press prefers that the full story remain buried. Quelle surprise.

The letter from the Islamic Center reads, in full:

We, the undersigned members of the Somali community, write this letter to express our strong and heartfelt support for Qalinle Dirie, a member of our community.

Many of us first met Qalinle through our shared journey as Somali refugees — arriving in this country with little more than hope and the determination to rebuild our lives. Like so many of us, Qalinle has faced the challenge of starting over in a new culture: learning English, adjusting to a fast-paced system, and raising children in an environment far different from the one we grew up in.

Before this situation, Qalinle was known as a devoted family man and an outgoing person who would talk to anyone he came across in the community. Whether taking his children to school or a park, we witnessed his love for his family and kids. Many of us also know how close he is to his grandmother. He is her support line. Many of us have been to his home, worked with him, or met him in different community activities. Each time, Qalinle was a kind and outgoing human being.

He has also been an active volunteer in our mosque, Al-Ihsan Islamic Center, where he regularly visited during Friday prayers, Ramadan, and community events. You’ll often find him helping elders find rides home or staying after to help clean up. His service has never been about recognition — just a quiet commitment to supporting the spaces that hold our community together.

Despite the financial pressures of life in the U.S., Qalinle also still managed to support needy family members back in Somalia. Whether it is helping with medical expenses or food, he consistently sent money home, even when his own resources were limited.

We respectfully ask that you consider the Qalinle we know — a caring father, a supportive grandson, a helpful neighbor, and a committed community member — when making your decision. He is deeply remorseful and has the full support of his family and community as he works to make this right.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

"A caring father, a supportive grandson, a helpful neighbor."

As we reported way back in 2018, dozens of German women reported being sexually assaulted on New Year’s Eve, allegedly by men of “Arab or North African” descent. In response, ARD, a consortium of public TV and radio stations, published an illustrated guide showing Germany’s new immigrant population how women are to be treated in Germany.

And in related news, the U.S. Welcome Corp, a creation of the State Department set up and funded in 2023, is on hold; permanently, one can hope.

Yeah, but those were Americans — that's different (Updated, because another has-been has weighed in)

The convenient thing about switching "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" is that every weather event: flood; fire; hot; cold; stable, can be attributed to CO2 (and Trump)

Nationwide arctic blast set to bring temperatures even lower — with 15 states at risk for new record

A powerful arctic blast is on track to impact over 200 million Americans, bringing temperatures even lower than the last wave.

Over 30 record lows could fall across 15 states later this week, as many cities will see consecutive days of below-freezing temperatures leading up to Thursday and Friday.

Millions of Americans have already felt portions of this bitter arctic air from the polar vortex sweeping across the country.

When there is a disruption in the vortex, it becomes weak and pushes colder air south toward Canada and the US.

…. This new wave of Arctic air is tracking to be even more extreme than what most of the country saw on Monday, when a cold weather advisory was in effect for northern Montana and wind chills caused it to feel 20 to 30 degrees below zero.

Given the prices of comparable houses in other parts of town, this looks like a bargain

53 Shady Lane, in Glenville, cut its price to $2.7 million today, quite a whack from its opening October 10th price of $3.7, and a substantial reduction of its October 30 price of $3 million. I’m sure this was more attractive a location when the house went up in 1901, 33 years before the Merritt came through, and the present master bathroom isn’t what I’d describe as Rock’Em, Sock’em, but assuming it can pass a thorough building inspection, it offers a lot more beauty than many houses in the $3.5 range.

Besides, although it lacks the Zebra, it does have the tipi.

Here's more from The New York Times:

According to five U.S. officials, who spoke separately and on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter that is under investigation, Mr. Hegseth, ahead of the Sept. 2 attack, ordered a strike that would kill the people on the boat and destroy the vessel and its purported cargo of drugs.

But, each official said, Mr. Hegseth’s directive did not specifically address what should happen if a first missile turned out not to fully accomplish all of those things. And, the officials said, his order was not a response to surveillance footage showing that at least two people on the boat survived the first blast.

Admiral Bradley ordered the initial missile strike and then several follow-up strikes that killed the initial survivors and sank the disabled boat. As that operation unfolded, they said, Mr. Hegseth did not give any further orders to him.
