Zero, meet Zero

The announcer in the Patriots game just now mentioned that the NFL is running some sort of program called “Por la Cultura, to mark Latinx Heritage Month” (September 15 - October 15).

Which is perfect: just as there is no such thing as a “Latinx”, there’s just about no such thing as a Hispanic football player: 24 out of 1,696 active players.

This is not an insurmountable hurdle, of course: if the NFL can create a new class of imaginary people, surely it can invent a “Latinix” larger than the average Latino: 6’5”, 350 lbs, say, rather than the current average of 5’1”, 112 lbs. The new jumbo size should solve the absence of our friends from south of the border, pronto.
