She's right of course

From Kathy Smith’s GreenwichWise:

Why celebrate more high-density housing?

A celebratory groundbreaking for the 6-story, 120-unit apartments on Benedict Place in downtown Greenwich was held last Friday.  The project bypassed local zoning because 40% of the units will be “affordable” offered at below market rents.  The reality? Long waitlists, asset-blind loopholes, and clever workarounds to qualify. The 8-30g system is a major win for developers, but a terrible trade-off for Greenwich.  Story here.

Riverside sale on the railroad side of Summit

The owners of 93 Summit Road originally asked $2.795 million, but 100 days on, settled for $2.735. The new GMLS policy of taking private all except one picture of a listing as soon as it goes pending or, in this case, is sold, makes Zillow and other real estate sites less helpful here, and that diminished usefulness will continue. Of course, that didn’t stop the intrepid FWIW photography team from sneaking around back and grabbing a few quick snapshots, and who they found there – visitors, presumably and not the actual owners — may explain this home’s lengthy stay on the market.

Old Greenwich building lot for sale

6 Lincoln Avenue, $1.750 million. 0.19 acre in the R-12 zone, which by my math yields a maximum size of 2,607 sq. ft (43,560 X 0.19 = 8,276.4 X .315 FAR= 2,607), but but that’s above grade; builders can always sneak in an extra 1,000 sq.ft. or so in the basement and, depending on how clever their gamesmanship is, more in the attic. Small it may be, but I wouldn’t be all that surprised — not in this market — if it goes via highest and best.

This seems like a pretty fair description of its condition:

Rare opportunity to create a custom home in one of Old Greenwich's most coveted neighborhoods. Set on a flat, rectangular 0.19-acre lot outside the FEMA-designated flood zone, this property presents an exciting opportunity for new construction or significant renovation. Ideally located close to the Village, train, schools, Binney Park and Greenwich Point, the setting is truly exceptional. Bring your architect or custom builder and explore the possibilities of creating your dream home in this highly desirable Old Greenwich neighborhood. Buyers are responsible for conducting their own due diligence regarding zoning, building potential and any proposed improvements to the property. Property is being sold in as-is condition. Interior access will not be provided. More...Agent to Agent Rmrks: The grounds are overgrown and not well manicured. You may walk the property at your own risk with a confirmed appointment. No Survey.

The Great Replacement Chronicles: Reparations Now, Reparations Tomorrow, Reparations Forever!

Caribbean nations to begin training schoolchildren to be reparations activists

Along with vaunted Restorative Justice™ scholars like Ibram X. Kendi, Jason Arday, the woke British scholar who tragically martyred himself after it was discovered that he had fabricated his entire life story as well as his body of academic “work” (loosely defined), and Robin DiAngelo, that Karen who wrote the Bible on the subject of white guilt, White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism (it’s so hard that she had to write a whole book about it and do endless interviews in corporate state media about it and give hundreds of TED Talk-style lectures about it and make it the focal point of her entire career), I’ve been yelling from the rooftops for years to anyone willing to open their hearts and ears: the primary impediment to Haiti’s long-term economic viability and social stability is that they simply don’t graduate enough professional activists trying to hustle reparation bucks out of the white man (literal Satan).

Thankfully, at long last, the responsible governments of several Caribbean nations have set about correcting that deficiency.

Via The Telegraph (emphasis added):

Caribbean countries will teach children to be activists so they can claim reparations from Britain for generations.

Mia Mottley, the prime minister of Barbados, has hosted a conference over the past week to discuss strategies for obtaining compensation for slavery.

Government-backed experts have devised an “action plan”, which includes training children to continue the dispute with former colonial powers for decades to come.

It has been recommended that nations seeking reparations create and fund “institutional youth leadership” training to ensure a “succession” of advocates within the reparation movement.

There are parallel plans to make the region less “Western” and to overhaul the curriculum in schools to focus on slavery.

The official draft of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) plan states that nations should “overhaul Caribbean educational curricula to centre and teach of Africa, indigenous, and Caribbean histories; enslavement, resistance, and reparatory justice”.

Laleta Davis Mattis, a delegate from Jamaica, suggested that slavery and reparations could be inserted into maths lessons.

Rather than counting items bought at the shop, in a simple arithmetic exercise, she suggested that children could instead count how many Africans were seized by slavers.

Bartee:

Premising your nation’s economic prospects on the long-term capacity to squeeze blood out of the turnip that is the dying British kingdom — which doesn’t appear, on its current trajectory, to be long for this world — is certainly a bold economic plan.

Not to put a wet blanket on the whole thing, but it’s also unclear whether the likes of Haitian warlord Barbecue, who runs the lawless island, could be trusted to disperse the reparations funds in a fair and equitable manner among the population.

A Denver councilwoman caused a stir when she declared that white-owned businesses should pay reparations.

Candi CdeBaca, a 37-year-old Democratic Socialist who is facing a run-off election in June, told a business forum Thursday that white-owned businesses should pay an additional race-based tax, which would be given in turn as reparations to minority-owned businesses.

“Capitalism was built on stolen land, stolen labor, and stolen resources,” CdeBaca told the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance, 9 News reported.

She said business improvement districts could levy the racial tax.

‘You could be collecting those extra taxes from white-led businesses all over the city and redistributing them to black and brown-owned businesses,” she said.

Relax, Mark. We have absolutely no interest in your poutine, (or Quebecker putains); Better you should worry about Alberta defecting to the US

For that matter, we don’t want your Vancouverans either.

Canada PM Mark Carney confirms he’s prepped for US invasion: ‘Would be irresponsible not to’

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed in an interview this week that his government had prepared for the possibility of the US launching an invasion of Canada amid ongoing trade tensions.

“I think you have a responsibility in these roles to look at extreme tail risk,” Carney told the New York Times in an interview Wednesday while in town for the United Nations General Assembly. “That’s just risk management. That’s not a base case, but it would be irresponsible not to.”

Admit it: you see this NYPost report's headline and you just know – you KNOW — it involves an Episcopal priest(ess) (Update)

Well, okay, could have been a Unitarian one, I suppose, but my instinct always goes to the Episcomplainings first.

NYC priest claims Jesus is trans and God is nonbinary in outlandish sermon

“When God, who – as we have established is nonbinary – was born in human form as our Lord Jesus Christ, Mary said, ‘Oh look, a baby boy.'”

Klink, who has a spouse and daughter, paused for a second before claiming, “God isn’t a boy, we have established this. God is beyond boy and girl.

“God was assigned a gender at birth, and later on it became clear that that gender wasn’t right.

“So if you’re gonna deny that God is trans, I think you’re going to be denying the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ and I have some notes about that,” Klink said.

Update: Mr. (Colonel?) Klink properly uses the honorific “Father” Flourish, but insists that he’s really a girl, and is married to another man. Of course he does, and is.

UPDATE II: Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley (might have) asked Patorette Flourish, “Tell Me What Kind of Man Jesus is?”
